Out in the sticks but on the Cask Marque Ale Trail and deservedly so. Lunches are popular and well presented. The chef (and landlord) is not renowned for being garrulous, but the staff are affable enough.

Great pub! Nice warm welcome from the staff and the few locals who were there. Good selection of ale and if the breakfast was anything to go by the food is good and extremely good value.

Came for a lunch on Saturday a call of weeks ago 2 people in the bar my wife and I decided to sit outside and have some food. Went in ordered 2 drinks and asked for 2 menus went to take the menus outside so my wife could order was told no you can't do that you must pay for the drinks before hand But I'm just going to let my wife pick something and come straight back in a firm no sorry you can't do that šŸ¤” I'm a man in my 60s obviously thought I was a lout and going to do a runner 😔 So I ordered was told the cutlery is by the door ( customer service skills were outstanding😊 🧐 There was no one else eating in the pub it was 1330 the food came and my order was wrong FFS THERE'S NO OTHER FOOD ON ORDER won't be back along with a few others who have had the same lack of customer service issues Point for the management to note your customers are your business treat them well or lose them once they have gone it's very hard to get them back Just as the last...

The best pub in the area. Absolutely superb food - the perfect blend of chef par excellence and presentation, without losing sight of the fact that some people are hungry, and want a proper portion. So there may be some fancy trimmings and sauces (which suits me), but you can equally choose their fish and chips, which is unbeatable.

Beer - three perfectly kept ales, all tasty with good hops, or more malted if you prefer, ranging from 3.8% to 5%, and a good selection of wines. I don't do lager so I can't comment, but the locals look happy on it.

Finally, the pub is run by a charming couple - Louise is front of house, and James is the man behind the excellent food - they both make you feel very welcome, and nothing is too much trouble.

Summary : this place is responsible for our best meals out this year. We've always been able to get a table, but it maybe a good idea to...

I went to The White Horse on Saturday with my Grandparents and we were utterly charmed by the place.

It is a pub I have driven past many times and have always discounted, but I understand it is under new management and I'll definitely be going back.

The food was served quickly and was creative and tasty. The chef stopped by to chat to us and told us about the providence of the venison. I was particularly impressed by the puddings - which were not only homemade, but came with homemade ice-cream. The dishes are high class, with a bit more panache than your average pub grub.

Best of all was the excellent atmosphere provided by the charming bar staff. They were very genuine in their friendliness and service. I'll...
