Nearly 3 years ago I said. Lovely bright clean family run pub with excellent food. They went out of their way to make sure that our meals met our dietary requirements,as we have a couple of unusual ones. Ate so well at lunchtime that only needed a bit of toast for supper after driving back home to Somerset. The roast beef was especially good, moist, tender and full of flavour. Plan to go again when next in the area.
March 2025. Sorry to say that we were very disappointed by our meal and service today. Yep we went back, and I know that they've been having problems with their phone line and Internet affecting supplies, but someone could have popped to Tesco or another local supermarket and picked up some veg so they could meet there reduced menu commitments. I had the pie of the day, which was overcooked, with mash (lovely), and roast veg (not available, served a dollop of peas), I hate peas, asked if there was any other veg available, waitress never came back with an snswer, still charge full for that meal. Not told of shortages when ordering, also after ordering had to change one of our mains due to them running out. Very slow service too, was there over 2 hours for a two course meal. Not sure I can recommend this...
Read moreThis pub is situated just outside of the town of Wokingham. To get to it you will need your own transport - car, cycle, etc. It is set back from a pleasant country road with plenty of parking, a little beer garden, and nice comfortable bar lounge area with tables and plenty of seating. It has the feel of a traditional English pub with beers to match. The wine is decent too. We booked Sunday lunch for five. The menu has plenty to offer though it's not cheap. We ordered Sunday roast, sausage and mash, salad and sea bream dish as main course, from the friendly bar staff eager to please. The problem was we were hungry and the interminable wait for our food to arrive made us progressively grumpy. We weren't expecting fast food but this was mega slow. By the time it arrived we had almost lost the will to live. The portion size, quality and flavour of sea bream was excellent the others dishes were just ok. We briefly thought desert but declined deciding the wait might drive our stay into the late afternoon and a further bout of stress. When I paid the lady apologised for the slow service due to 'being very busy today. Problem: there were no more than a handful of people eating throughout the whole time...
Read moreWe have today been to The White Horse in Easthampstead with our family for a Sunday roast, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The service was impeccable—staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
The food was absolutely delicious, with a varied selection of Sunday roasts to suit all tastes, as well as a dedicated children’s menu. They also accommodated gluten-free options effortlessly, which was greatly appreciated. Our grandson, who is a fussy eater, had a special request, and nothing was too much trouble for the team.
Being a family-run pub, you can really feel the care and dedication that goes into everything, from the food to the service. I would highly recommend The White Horse to anyone looking for a fantastic Sunday roast in a relaxed and friendly setting. We’ll certainly be returning! Thank you to...
