Really enjoyed some eclectic hot, sweet, sour Asian flavoured, Med flavoured easy eating food here… ! Try a bowl of crispy coated, big & juicy Chicken strips on the side dish menu, Jalepeno Poppers.. for a bit of heat, crispy coated peppers stuffed with cream cheese, both great as a starter! Not out of the freezer...home made! Polynesian Prawns dish, tasty with decent sized prawns in a chilli spicy sauce with salad and chips. Tried the Greek styled Gyros with Chicken, also available with Beef or Halumi, served on a flat bread, a Greek salad and a few chips, its a great tasting plateful of food! I had that evenings special of Sea Bass fillet, new potato's, Charred Asparagus and a Hollandaise Sauce..but asked for a side of chilli to sprinkle over the top and they obliged.! Fish cooking was spot on. Another of our party had Teryaki Beef with noodles, there was nothing left on that plate! We saw proper home made Burgers going out and staples like Fish & Chips, there's something for everyone.! We ate in the stable outbuilding, at first i thought we would be forgotten about in this quaint back room, that is separate to the pub..i was wrong, excellent table service all night and the lovely waitress kept us well refreshed!! Its a very busy bar, but don't be put off, the beer is great and there is the stable outside that seats 30 people! Also an outside bbq & seating area with a log fire on the night we were there! In a nutshell..Good hospitality. Great flavoursome food. North South East West.. it’s here, all home made and expertly cooked, quirky, tasty, well spiced and Jalepeno hot. Something for everyone.!! Proper home made cooking .. treat yourself to some great tasty food. Well done...
Read moreAugust 2024. Had to edit my old review as it won’t let me add a new one…
Absolutely appalling experience and horrible attitude from “owners”.
We decided to visit the pub again with our family after last time finding the pub had transformed from the dark, dirty, pub we had known it to be with an unkempt weed garden in to a beautiful, welcoming family friendly pub with ducks in the garden (new manager had transformed it). But when we arrived we found it wasn’t a patch again.
The ducks had all gone from the garden, the pub looks uncared for and the vile smell of dirty toilets hits you immediately as you walk in the door!
Nevertheless we had driven out to the pub, with family in tow so thought we’d have a bite to eat in the garden as their outdoor BBQ was on (disappointed but hungry) only to be informed there was no food being served. When I pointed out that there were several customers sitting outside eating, we were informed “that was only for shareholders!!” So basically there WAS food being served, just not for us. When I asked if Stuart was around (he’d been so welcoming before) I was informed he’d left. Well all I can say is; it shows!! It’s back to how it was. We won’t be bothering to visit again. Unless we buy some shares in the place, maybe then we’ll be considered...
Read moreSuch a disappointing visit. Ushered into the Cow Shed. Zero atmosphere, stressed staff. Asked for water, didn’t arrive. Had to ask for cutlery, food cold by the time we had the cutlery. Food was ok, hot or even warm would have been nice. Asked for the bill, didn’t arrive, went to pay and left. Not asked once if everything was ok, in which case I would have mentioned it. First and last visit. I suspect from overhearing other guests that they won’t be returning. £50 odd hard earned money would have been better spent elsewhere. We wanted to support new owners. I hope things improve in the future for them as they have the foundation of what could be a great country pub. Beef was good (but cold) having been dragged from the pub to the Cow Shed. Over cooked broccoli, under cooked cauliflower cheese. The half a carrot and slither of parsnip taste was good but again cold. Ice cream scoop of mash….cold. I’m looking for some positives but I’m struggling to find them with either with the...
