Booked a table for nine for Sunday lunch on a recommendation. The place is a traditional local pub and a bit run down (could do with a spruce up) no carvery or roast Sunday dinners being served so had to order meals off limited menu. Service was excellent and the meals all came together and we're hot but the quality really wasn't that good for the price paid. Could have had a cheaper and by the looks of it a better quality meal in Boscastle which we visited later that afternoon. One good point is they do allow dogs into a separate eating part of the pub. I suppose the place is being affected by the "Ping demmic" Overall a...

the rooms where tidy but a very low standard. You had tea and coffee in the rooms but no milk or kettle.Lack of heat in the room as only a very small 4 rib oilheater for a double room. A lot of noise comes through the floorboards as not sound proof. No mirror in the bathroom and no complementary toiletries or bags for bins. The room cost £89.00p per night for two, lack for details. No comunication between staff as we came down for breakfast and nobody knew that we were residents,so nothing was set up. Hope these points can be picked up by the management and will help them to provide a better service and...

The staff were not that welcoming despite having reserved a table a few days before the visit.

After patiently waiting over 20 minutes from being seated, I had to go and ask if we could have menus to start deciding what to eat.

When the food was ordered (steak) we weren’t asked how we wanted it cooked, waitress had to come back and ask (after the chef sent her back).

BUT when the food finally did arrive (almost an hour after we arrived) the portions were very generous and the food tasted delicious. If the service had been better then I would have...

Followed a recommendation to come here from Steve at the 'Cornwall at War' museum (look that one up... it's great!) and we couldn't have been happier! We snuck in just at the end of lunch service, but the we're happy to feed us. I had a steak sandwich and a portion of cheesy chips, and my son had sausage and mash and all of it was gorgeous! The portions are huge, and it was well worth what we paid! Definitely pay the Wilsey Down a visit... I'm sure we'll be back again!

Lovely pub. Had a nice beer before having a lovely meal. Good menu. All served in a timely manner. Photo shows baked salmon meal, off the board. Delish. Like the boards with different sayings above the bar and doors. The only negative, it's not that welcoming but we went passed that. Life is what you make it and enjoyedxeach others company. Would eat there again. Plenty of parking. Don't let garage next door put you off!!
