We stayed on a nice hot day in April 2017. This trip was Jacks birthday treat.

As were quiet people, We chose the windmill due to looking like a quieter location.

You had a last minute wedding booked and you changed our room from the double silver/white room to a clean standard double Deer/Tartan/brown themed room with a great tub due to being the quieter room, as you could tell from the questions I was asking I was concerned for any noise that may bother us.

When we arrived the pub was packed and had to squeeze past a photo cab and alot of happy jolly people.

I liked that we we’re shown to our room by young woman and given details etc... not many do this. The music and ambiance of inside the pub started to die down about 10.30pm and ironically we ended up watching a vampire film Van Helsing on ITV2 unfortunately it wasn’t Bram Stokers Dracula ;) . Anyway we still had a good nights sleep. Boyfriend loved the bath tub. Breakfast was enjoyable. Even the chef came out to check everything was okay, which yet again not many places do this and it showed confidence in the food he served, clean chef uniform also.

When we came down to pay the gentlemen had reduced the payment from £75 to £60 gesture of good will.

It takes the right kind of business to pull of a last minute wedding (good for business) and trying to keep other guests happy and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t but you did well and guests can tell if your taking them into consideration especially when a wedding party will take the centre stage, which you took us under consideration which was appreciative.

You had the right balance.

The only thing we was a little disappointed about was not being able to dine at the windmill as there was no room to sit and we would have felt we would be intruding on a wedding party. Anyway we headed into Whitby late evening instead and had some good old fish and chips.

This was our first trip to Whitby so Thank you for our lovely stay and sorry We’ve not written a review sooner.

It's a place for locals. I'm from Yorkshire and work in steelworks, but this was something else.

Laid in bed, in one of the in-house rooms (not the huts) at 22:00 to 23:15 listening to the local football team / contractors shouting and swearing. My wife (rightly) wouldn't visit the bar for a drink. I would never consider taking a child.

We stayed Fri/Sat night and it was like if you wanted to sleep at a random Weatherspoons pub. Bed was rock hard, pillows like a pile of envelopes. Door to the room felt like a breeze would open it, even when locked. No welcome pack with any info, and took me 24 hours to get the WiFi password that worked in our room. "Here's your keys. . . You're on your own."

Fancy roll-top bath, but no shower, which was a bit weird. Not there for a soak. Get clean and out surely?

There's 6 parking spaces, before you get blocked in, or have to park on a country lane. Didn't feel welcome when we got there, and it felt awkward while we were there (American Werefolf in London). We booked to eat out in Whitby the next night after we arrived, and the staff at The Marine were the first people to ask if everything was ok with us since we'd arrived at the Windmill. Didn't book for evening meal at the Windmill because we didn't want to be there around the rowdiness, and it was much better being with the stag/hen do's in Whitby on bank holiday Saturday. It felt friendlier.

The breakfast was good, even though it was only served 09:00 to 10:00, which basically ensures you're not going to get a full day out and about, while having time to eat a breakfast you've paid for.

Best thing was breakfast and housekeeping (thankyou!). Other people staying, said the evening menu was excellent quality, so kudos to the chef/kitchen staff.

Worse thing was everything else.

Never again.

Please believe me, no matter what the owners comments are after mine. Their previous responses to negative comments seem to be quite blunt and dismissive, with nothing changed.

I assure you this was my honest experience. It's primarily a pub for rowdy locals (which they allow freely), with some accommodation bolted on as an...

We booked a 1 night stay for myself and my husband after reading the reviews. We didn't do our research properly and this was further away from Whitby than we had anticipated (our fault, we didn't check) We arrived at 5.30 the pub was busy and took us 5 minutes to get the bar and get checked in. We were told the bar would be open until 10.30pm and we were welcome to take drinks from the bar up to our room. The room itself was absolutely spotless, there were fresh towels and an en-suite toilet. The bath is in the bedroom, which we found extremely odd!! We are not prudes but, come on...🤣 A taxi into Whitby itself was about £8. We booked a return back and got back at 9.45 for a couple of drinks before we went to bed. On arriving into the bar area we were told they were closed, and the coffee machine had been switched off. We aren't big alcohol drinkers, and fancied a latte. We were told there were coffee sachets in our room, which there was, but we didn't want instant coffee. |The room was really hot, and only 1 window opened, the other was screwed shut. There are no bedside tables, so nowhere for our phones/glasses or a drink (even though we didn't have one- sore point) There were no, body wash or shampoo sachets for the bath entertainment, which after it costing £150 a night we were expecting. The curtains are really thin in the bedroom, so by 5.30am it was really bright and we were awake, really needs blackout curtains or blinds.|Breakfast is only served 9am-10am we would have liked an earlier option after the early wake up. The restaurant server was lovely and friendly, and the breakfast was nice. Any stay anywhere is what you make of it, we enjoyed the break and couple time, but wouldn't return here, or recommend it. After really high expectations from the reviews we left feeling disappointed and ripped off to be honest. To end on a positive - In short, lovely and clean, nice, but...

Stayed for one night B&B and fell in love! Warm welcome in the evening and a greater one at breakfast, is that possible? Yes it is... The rooms above the pub are a delight, recently refurbished to a modern standard that some B&Bs lack. With a bath fit for any Queen.. Just a little way from the centre of Whitby set back amongst the fields on a quiet country lane, the Windmill offers some where to stay with out the busy calls of the seagulls early in the morning..! A cooked breakfast was my choice but on offer is a very good morning menu. I honestly can not wait for an excuse to visit again. Well done to all the staff.

What a great find! Our first foray into the "glamping" world and won't be Our last. Can't share a pic of the actual hut as my DD jumped on her bed but the hut was well proportioned with a double bed for us, and a sofa bed for her. Plenty of sockets for device charging, TV, and tea & coffee making facilities. The shared toilet and shower were both very clean. If I had to find a niggle then it would be no bath mat in shower room so floor very wet and slippy but very minor point. the food was delicious both for dinner and breakfast. Quick service and plentiful. Would definitely recommend and return.
