I was recommended this place by friends who go regularly and they rave about it so I thought I’d give it a try…… Pros - lovely drive up to the country park and very clean and welcoming Decor in the dining area lovely Cons - the staff greeted us with a hang on I’ll be back Then another staff member asked where we would like to sit I explained we had a reservation for 7pm / he said we’re not busy sit where you want great 👍🏻 1st waitress came - not even a hello just can I get you drinks - ordered great 👍🏻 could see our drinks on bar top for over 5 mins I had to ask the same waitress to bring them over she plonked them down no smoke or apology or many facial expression ( think she might be a robot ) - 2 nd waitress - no hello - can I take your order ( but at least she was smiling ) The waiter brought our food out in pretty quick time I must add ( bit alarming ) robot mode activated also no facial expressions or eye contact the whole time he plonked our food down didn’t even say enjoy is there anything else- I had to stop him to ask for sauce before he ran away ( probably to get charged up) I said do you do garlic sauce he said yes and walked away lol he did come back with some though ( he obeyed 🤖) Ok food 1 we ordered 2 gammons and 1 fish n chips a side of onion rings and side of chef’s slaw Fish n chips were lovely apparently- fabulous Mine and my dads gammon on the other hand chewy and very salty - chips were nice but only luke warm at best - the salad on the plate was brown - the onion rings were very greasy loads of it on the plate too (bork ) And the “chefs” slaw well you can’t polish a turd by putting it on a side dish and garnishing it - I’ve had better from Lidl by far !!
So would I return …. Probably not but not because of food as we could try others but the lack of human staff and politeness- it’s all about...
Read moreOver 90 mins wait for food. Arrived and waited ages for our order to be taken. Watched other people arrive after us have there orders taken, food arrive at their tables. Asked for our order to be taken and the young girl could not take it and had another person eventualy come to the table. They explained what wasn't available on the menu. Ordered food and sat patiently. Watched more tables have food bought to them and people paying. After an hour wondered where our food was, asked the young girl and she said that it wouldn't be long they had just finished with the larger table and would be dealing with the smaller table now (less important). There was 5 of us. Supposed "manager" came over to confirm that it would be no more than 10 mins. 2 dishes arrive, one luke warm. By the time the other 3 dishes arrived the 1st two people had nearly finished theirs. The burgers arrived and they were horrible. They didn't taste right. We were all disappointed. We had visited a few months ago and it was great and wanted to scope the place out for a 50th Golden Wedding Anniversary party, there is no chance that we will be returning. When discussing this with the "manager" he did apologise, blamed the weather, the staffing, the walk ins ( we booked), lots of excuses. Apparently other tables were made aware of the extreme wait, but they had not bothered to tell us. Two other ladies on another table were shocked how they had waited over an hour for just a starter and were wondering to stay for the main??? "Manager" said the next time that we came he could offer us a free meal. Life is too short, unfortunately the food would not be worth it. There are lot better restaurants with better service and food out there, do not...
Read moreTotally disappointed. Always enjoyed the carvery and had great service in the past. Really let down today. Arrived 5 minutes early and our table was not ready, finally got seated after a little wait, no drinks order taken. Finally had our drinks order taken after 20 minutes.
Ordered our starters which came and were eaten before our drinks had arrived. Our starters were taken away and our drinks arrived about 10 minutes after. A total of 40 minutes after we had been seated. We had only ordered 2 Pepsi's and a water..
Sunday roast was okay, nothing special. We asked for extra gravy, got the tiniest gravy boat between the three of us. Wouldnt have cared too much but the table of three nearest to us had a large gravy boat.
No wait staff came close to us through out the meal, no condiments offered, no drinks offered, nothing. We all ended up sharing sharing the half litre of water meant for 1 as we were thirsty.
Finished our main meals, waiting a further 25 minutes for our plates to be taken and offered dessert. In which time the table next to us had a round of drinks, plates cleared and a bill paid. Had to ask for our plates to be taken in the end.
Expressed all of the above to the waitress who could not have cared less, barely even managed a weak 'sorry about that'. She was clearly not interested.
Would normally have had a dessert, but we were so frustrated by the experience and poor service we just asked for the bill. Another 10 minutes later this arrived. Waitress didn't say a word, no thanks, no apology for the dreadful service.
Used to be our favourite place to go for a Sunday lunch. Will not be going again. Worst service I have suffered in a long time and not even an attempt at an...
