A Delightful Surprise at Toft Gate Barn in Harrogate
On a recent journey to Pateley Bridge, we had the pleasure of stumbling upon Toft Gate Barn in, and what a wonderful surprise it was! This hidden gem is a must-visit for anyone in the area.
The farm shop is absolutely fantastic, boasting an impressive array of fresh and locally sourced produce. From mouth-watering cuts of meat to an abundance of fruits and vegetables, the selection on offer is truly remarkable. The quality of the food is exceptional, and it's clear that great care has been taken to ensure that only the finest products are available for customers.
The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and more than happy to help with any queries or recommendations about the food, their passion for the produce they sell is evident and adds to the overall enjoyable experience of visiting the farm shop.
As a food lover, I was in heaven as I explored the shelves, but the icing on the cake (quite literally) were the homemade cakes. An array of delicious treats awaited us in the cafe, each more enticing than the last. It's worth noting that if you plan on indulging in these delights, you might want to skip eating the night before, as the portion sizes are generous, and you'll want to save room to try as many as possible!
The only minor criticism I have is the slight lack of parking available at the property. The farm shop and surrounding areas are considerably larger than the parking facilities on offer. This is, however, a small blemish on an otherwise fantastic experience, and I would still highly recommend a visit to Toft Gate Barn, Just make sure you arrive with an...

We ordered a mushroom & onion pizza (displayed in a chiller cabinet right by the queue to order, with chips and drinks. We then found a comfy place to sit (big positive, it was very comfy and cosy) and there we waited. 50 minutes went by and so we went to see what was going on. Were told the order got lost and they would get on it straight away, ok, cool. No problem. These things happen, we understand that. Eventually the chips came, all fine, followed by the pizza. It turns out, that pizza was not supposed to be for serving in the café. I'm not sure how it had been heated but it was soggy, lukewarm and not fresh tasting. The toppings weren't cooked or hot or melted. The staff had kindly given us free drinks by this time. They were very decent and apologetic and gave us a refund as we left. Just frustrating that just for the sake of saying, "those pizzas aren't available to eat in the café" as we were ordering. The menu had loads of great options. The food at other tables looked great. Honestly felt sorry for them as they were extremely busy but even with the graciously given refund, we wish we'd just gone elsewhere, the slice of that pizza that we each ate made us feel rough. Sorry,...
Read moreAs so many customers were touched by the owners of this cafe on the channel 5 Springtime on the farm programme we decided to pay a visit and support our fellow Yorkshire farmers. The views from the back of the farm/cafe are truly amazing and it's worth going to sit with a good drink and take in the Vista. We decided to have lunch - gammon with egg and chips, burger with salad and chips and a bacon and brie sandwich with salad and coleslaw. All meals were very tasty and well presented. We also had 3 fruit drinks. I was quite shocked at the total price being over £40 but accepted it as we were not out to save money but appreciate what this family were trying to do. Before we left I got 3 pieces of cake to take away which were £3 a slice. The owners are trying very hard to do up this place and I feel they still have some way to go. I do hope they continue to strive forwards but take heed from all the previous reviews; bring down your prices a little and you'll get even more...
