UPDATED 9/7/23 Went again, a year later, sunday, 5pm, carvery, wow, was worse than before. The turkey crown had not been trimmed out properly, there was still remnants of trachea and breastbone cartilage in every slice, the beef was so dry it took two staff to attempt to carve it. The vegetables were overboiled peas, carrots and Cauliflower. Peas bolied so long they'd started to dehydrate. Cauliflower cheese was nothing but slop. The carrots were huge, I mean 30 to 40mm lumps, unpeeled and so woody that the centre of the carrot was still inedible. The only other veg option was some kind of unidentifiable mixture, pot roast style. Staff were pretty useless, had to queue 15 mins just to order drinks and food, queue was beyond the entrance podium, people jumping the queue from other direction and staff having no clue who was next and later getting stroppy because the carvery queue was blocking her path to the kitchen. The place wasn't even that busy, maybe a lot had just left but there were plenty of empty tables when we were there. I've deducted 2 previous stars, I had forgotten it was poor last time. I'll remember next time.....oh, no, there won't be a next time. Original post 2022. Went for carvery with family at 730, nothing left other than a tiny peice of turkey the size of a chicken breast, dried out gammon and after we had ordered a bit of pork appeared. Lost a star for that. Only real ale selection from 6 handpulls was old man beer, pedigree, lost half a star for that. Lost the last half a star, lucky it wasn't more, for Christmas jumpers and reindeer antlers being worn by the staff on August Bank Holiday. Seriously?????? The food we did order was good though, fish great, salad excellent, rump good and sausage and mash also good.

We waited 30min to be seated but that's fine as no booking been done and it's Sunday. Placed an order, and mixed grill was out of stock. We ordered other adult meal for our 5 amd 6 years childrens and two meals for us. Our children don't like child menu dishes as they commonly not tasty as much as adults one. So, when we get our meals we asked could we get an EMPTY plain to split meal for our children, but we got a tiny small bowl, literly size as small ashtray, and been told they not allowed to give us an normal empty bowl. Every pub we been before was no problem, this one is first time. I spend mo ey for food and drinks and they don't give a normal size empty share plate, what a redicolous thing and behave with a customer's. And one more, they totally DO NOT have a drink menu. If you want some cocktail or bear, you must ask for ALL they have and price for each. If they make a mistake with your bills, they can easily say it is a price, as no option to check it. I'm not sure is it legal at all? It was first and last time we been here.
