UPDATED 9/7/23 Went again, a year later, sunday, 5pm, carvery, wow, was worse than before. The turkey crown had not been trimmed out properly, there was still remnants of trachea and breastbone cartilage in every slice, the beef was so dry it took two staff to attempt to carve it. The vegetables were overboiled peas, carrots and Cauliflower. Peas bolied so long they'd started to dehydrate. Cauliflower cheese was nothing but slop. The carrots were huge, I mean 30 to 40mm lumps, unpeeled and so woody that the centre of the carrot was still inedible. The only other veg option was some kind of unidentifiable mixture, pot roast style. Staff were pretty useless, had to queue 15 mins just to order drinks and food, queue was beyond the entrance podium, people jumping the queue from other direction and staff having no clue who was next and later getting stroppy because the carvery queue was blocking her path to the kitchen. The place wasn't even that busy, maybe a lot had just left but there were plenty of empty tables when we were there. I've deducted 2 previous stars, I had forgotten it was poor last time. I'll remember next time.....oh, no, there won't be a next time. Original post 2022. Went for carvery with family at 730, nothing left other than a tiny peice of turkey the size of a chicken breast, dried out gammon and after we had ordered a bit of pork appeared. Lost a star for that. Only real ale selection from 6 handpulls was old man beer, pedigree, lost half a star for that. Lost the last half a star, lucky it wasn't more, for Christmas jumpers and reindeer antlers being worn by the staff on August Bank Holiday. Seriously?????? The food we did order was good though, fish great, salad excellent, rump good and sausage and mash also good.

Where to begin, our party decided to try this location with a voucher in hand we had prebooked a table and headed on in. The restaurant was busy and we were greeted and pointed to our table which was by the window. The table was situated between two other tables barely enough room to sit down but we made it work knocking into other patrons chairs in the process. We then proceeded to place our order online where the voucher code did not work. After re inputting the code several times to no avail we gave up with the voucher and paid for our order as time was marching on. We ordered as follows a standard beef carvery, kebab, and hotdog. The beef from the carvery was the end offcut, which was hard and inedible, not even a ‘slice’ of beef, the stuffing block was as solid as a hockey puck and the Yorkshire pudding was stale. The only thing eaten was the cauliflower cheese…such a shame for an establishment that promotes its carvery in its advertising! The kebab was one strip of meat and a large portion of overlooked chips and the sausage from the hotdog was hot in the middle and cold at both ends again served with a large portion of over cooked chips. To top it off we did order a side portion of onion rings which were also over cooked. There was no opportunity to ‘ follow up’ whether everything was okay with our meals, and we left the restaurant disappointed and not wishing to return after this experience at this restaurant.

We booked a table for 7 guests online and when we arrived we were left waiting for some time before being acknowledged by a member of staff, when they did greet us there seemed to be some confusion over our booking and we were told after some debating with another member of staff that we should “just wait at the bar” whilst they figured out our table arrangements. Whilst we were stood we were told by a member of the bar staff to join the queue which was considerably long. When we spoke about ordering food, due to having no table number we were told we would have to queue again. When we were eventually seated we were told it best to order online, we placed our order but we unable to apply the discount code we had which had been the sole reason for visiting and when we asked for help with this we were told there was nothing to be done. After a wait of 40 minutes our food arrived with a small portions of hunters chicken over cooked and dry and the two burgers that had been order were both burnt and missing lettuce. For a meal that cost over £90, staff who were both rude and unhelpful and uninterested in helping we will certainly not be returning to the Trading Post nor shall any of our party be recommending the venue to anyone else. Extremely disappointing

Arrived on a Wednesday just before 6pm, most tables reserved for the Quiz some 3 hours later.

Find a table near the bar and order via QR code on table. Internet slow inside so takes ages to get through an order. Seemed pricey compared to Hobson's Choice which we had been regular visitors at each Wednesday (now closed down).

Drinks arrived and bottle of still water is sparkling, easy mistake so go to bar to change. Would think I had asked to murder someone such was the look of disgust and daring to ask for the correct drink. Then have to ask for fresh glass as only bottle handed over. Given a glass that strongly smells of vinegar and was cloudy (suspect dishwasher cleaner and cycle not done fully). Of course another look of disgust that I had to return to the bar for an actual clean glass.

Food arrives. No cutlery, napkins request for sauce or info if such things are based at a station to collect. Had to go searching for cutlery and salt / sauce swiped off another table. No menu on the table so had to painfully go through app. Corn on the Cob had no butter with it as described.

Food was quick out but very much crispy as under heat lamps. Tasted fine though although not worth the price tag. Just rather underwhelming. Between dry heat lamp food and no butter the kids and I felt we needed to search for flower vases and drinks from them to replace the lost moisture.

Didn't expect 4 star Ritz. Hobson's Choice you got what you got, no frills but nice food. Would have been happy with that. This was over priced Chef Microwave at its best sadly.

Carvery looked nice. Wish I had that instead on reflection. Been years since I have been here and will now likely be years before I...

Giving one star because I have to but honestly deserves zero! Absolutely awful, started by being told you’re at this number table, it’s over there normally you get shown to the table. Sat down and ordered food and drinks via the app. Drinks came shortly after and were flat then the starters came and they were hot and quite nice. Then an hour after we had ordered the food it finally arrived at the table. And what can I say aside from it was vile. The mega mixed grill was missing items, the steak was burnt and massively overcooked asked for medium and received well done. The steak americano was cold, the steak was tough and chewy. All food relating to the mains was cold and disgusting. However after waiting an hour. We were not sending it back because we just so hungry and it took that long to come out cold anyway. We did not even bother with desserts because so many people around us had already been waiting for long enough. And it was not worth the £86 we had already spent.

Also whilst we there, another customer spilt her drink and smashed her glass, not one member of staff approached to see if she was okay until another customer from a different table went and found one. Customer service was appalling, staff were too interested in standing around having chats with people to do their job. Bar staff actively ignored at least 3 members of the public who were waiting. Final thing when using the ladies toilets there was strong smell of stale urine.

We will not be returning....
