Well I don't really complain a lot as I know what it's like working in the bar and restaurant industry, however I feel that when they have taken money out off my account without asking needs to be mentioned. So I met up with some friends for a meal and a couple of drinks, noticed it's busy but we found a seat the table was covered in food and tomato sauce not really bothered just cleaned it up we then ask can we open a tab as we all need to pay separately he says yes we just need a card to open it so I put mine in as well as having a joke saying there's no money in it anyway all going well ordered food and drinks everything came out ok, finished our meals and got another round in on the tab plates was left at our table for 2 hours last order got called so we went up got another round and the bill, the waitress came to take our plates and said the other staff are rubbish as they wanted to go home, sat and had the drinks, worked out money went up about 11.20 to pay and leave I then got told by the waitress that he had already cashed up so I said you haven't been payed the lad came out and said he took it off my card and there's nothing he can do so I told him he had NO permission to take it as I never said he could. Well I walked out fuming as he clearly wasn't doing owt about it and it was very clear they both just wanted to go home as they left all the glasses and plates on tables. So it's safe to say I will never eat or drink there again because of the extremely bad service and in my eyes...
Read moreAh, The Trawl. A Grimsby institution with a car park so vast it could host a monster truck rally. And a selection of drinks that would make anyone weep with joy (or perhaps just confusion at the sheer variety). But let's talk about the food, shall we? Specifically, the beef burgers.
Now, I'm no geologist, but I'm fairly certain the burgers I was served on my last visit could be carbon-dated back to the Jurassic period. These weren't your average, juicy patties. Oh no, these were dense, petrified discs of beef that could have doubled as hockey pucks. I'm surprised the staff didn't serve them with a chisel and safety goggles.
The service? Well, let's just say the staff weren't exactly breaking the land speed record. I'm pretty sure I saw a glacier move faster than my order being taken. Perhaps they were concerned that any sudden movements might trigger a seismic event, given the tectonic plates of beef masquerading as burgers on our table.
But hey, let's not be too harsh. The Trawl has its charms. If you're looking for a place to park your aircraft carrier, or you fancy a leisurely pint while contemplating the meaning of life (and waiting for your food to arrive), then this is the place for you. Just maybe bring your own teeth.

Read moreWe had pre booked a table , when we arrived and was seated we noticed that the table was dirty , so had to go to the bar and ask someone for a cloth so we could clean it , the lady came over straight away and cleaned it , so not a good start , It was mid afternoon and was not busy My husband ordered the 15 oz gammon , it looked well presented and he enjoyed it . My granddaughter ordered Mac and cheese which was served with salad , the salad was fresh and she enjoyed it , the Mac and cheese looked like it had been thrown in the dish from afar and was dried up and only like warm . I ordered the Xmas Dinner , the turkey was beautiful and tender , the vegetables were thrown on the plate , cauliflower , carrots , and sprouts , they were luke warm and not fresh , I think frozen , the pig in a blanket was burnt and dry , the two roasters were luke warm but eatable , as for the stuffing well if you can call it that , the Yorkshire pudding was ok . I recommend the manager orders a Christmas Dinner sits down and tries it out and gives a good honest opinion about it just like we have . If I wouldn't eat it myself don't make your staff serve it , they do a great job and are polite , apart from the lady who cleaned the table before we could order drinks she did not even say sorry for the...
