Just visited 14.01.24 for dinner I ordered 'the gravy one' burger, ordered it as fancied something... with gravy. Brought the food out and chips slid off the plate onto the table. Server went to pick them up with his hands, but I quickly got to them first, he did apologise. Didn't bother with new ones wasn't offered to be fair. Burger had no gravy so asked for some and the jug on the side... As per menu. He brings out a jug 1/4 full. I asked him to fill it up as once poured over the burger there will be none left for 'dipping' anyway comes back after speaking to chef and tells us that's 2 servings in 1. I mean to be refused was in itself embarrassing. Secondly... There wasn't even enough to even pour on the burger. Ruined the meal and left unsatisfied. My husband also received a mere scrap of coleslaw along with his cold chips. Oh and onion rings were uncooked but didn't want to be embarrassed further making another request.

Absolutely awful place after 50 mins wait for food the well done rump steak come out with blood oozing out like rubber and the chips where cold so it went back and the second one come out just as bad. The staff wasn't welcoming. We booked a table but it wasn't clear where we had to go when we arrived, so asked at the bar they directed us to the table to find the last customers plates still on the table we asked for the table to be wiped they never returned. Only gave two stars as the burger was edible and spoke to the bar staff who used to be the chef said its not acceptable and the manager was helpful too and refunded the meal.

Fridays deal on the burgers... beautiful........Update? I have just come again for the Friday deal, and I feel so disappointed... the burgers were burnt at the edges and just cooked on the inside. The burger bun was tough and one teeny peice if lettuce. A few scraggy chips.. That's it.. I ate it as I was really hungry, and it was still edible but a very noticeable change from 8 months ago.. sign of the times, I suppose. If it was the full price, I would I sent it back. Service was still brilliant and polite staff.

Well I don't really complain a lot as I know what it's like working in the bar and restaurant industry, however I feel that when they have taken money out off my account without asking needs to be mentioned. So I met up with some friends for a meal and a couple of drinks, noticed it's busy but we found a seat the table was covered in food and tomato sauce not really bothered just cleaned it up we then ask can we open a tab as we all need to pay separately he says yes we just need a card to open it so I put mine in as well as having a joke saying there's no money in it anyway all going well ordered food and drinks everything came out ok, finished our meals and got another round in on the tab plates was left at our table for 2 hours last order got called so we went up got another round and the bill, the waitress came to take our plates and said the other staff are rubbish as they wanted to go home, sat and had the drinks, worked out money went up about 11.20 to pay and leave I then got told by the waitress that he had already cashed up so I said you haven't been payed the lad came out and said he took it off my card and there's nothing he can do so I told him he had NO permission to take it as I never said he could. Well I walked out fuming as he clearly wasn't doing owt about it and it was very clear they both just wanted to go home as they left all the glasses and plates on tables. So it's safe to say I will never eat or drink there again because of the extremely bad service and in my eyes...

Ah, The Trawl. A Grimsby institution with a car park so vast it could host a monster truck rally. And a selection of drinks that would make anyone weep with joy (or perhaps just confusion at the sheer variety). But let's talk about the food, shall we? Specifically, the beef burgers.

Now, I'm no geologist, but I'm fairly certain the burgers I was served on my last visit could be carbon-dated back to the Jurassic period. These weren't your average, juicy patties. Oh no, these were dense, petrified discs of beef that could have doubled as hockey pucks. I'm surprised the staff didn't serve them with a chisel and safety goggles.

The service? Well, let's just say the staff weren't exactly breaking the land speed record. I'm pretty sure I saw a glacier move faster than my order being taken. Perhaps they were concerned that any sudden movements might trigger a seismic event, given the tectonic plates of beef masquerading as burgers on our table.

But hey, let's not be too harsh. The Trawl has its charms. If you're looking for a place to park your aircraft carrier, or you fancy a leisurely pint while contemplating the meaning of life (and waiting for your food to arrive), then this is the place for you. Just maybe bring your own teeth.

Disclaimer - This review was written in July only just posted now as seen in my drafts. Things hopefully...

We had pre booked a table , when we arrived and was seated we noticed that the table was dirty , so had to go to the bar and ask someone for a cloth so we could clean it , the lady came over straight away and cleaned it , so not a good start , It was mid afternoon and was not busy My husband ordered the 15 oz gammon , it looked well presented and he enjoyed it . My granddaughter ordered Mac and cheese which was served with salad , the salad was fresh and she enjoyed it , the Mac and cheese looked like it had been thrown in the dish from afar and was dried up and only like warm . I ordered the Xmas Dinner , the turkey was beautiful and tender , the vegetables were thrown on the plate , cauliflower , carrots , and sprouts , they were luke warm and not fresh , I think frozen , the pig in a blanket was burnt and dry , the two roasters were luke warm but eatable , as for the stuffing well if you can call it that , the Yorkshire pudding was ok . I recommend the manager orders a Christmas Dinner sits down and tries it out and gives a good honest opinion about it just like we have . If I wouldn't eat it myself don't make your staff serve it , they do a great job and are polite , apart from the lady who cleaned the table before we could order drinks she did not even say sorry for the...
