Villa Verde Wilton — Restaurant in England

I can only assume that the people leaving 5 star reviews frequent below average restaurants, because we had a truly disappointing experience at Villa Verde. The calamari we ordered was so raw, it might as well have been swimming in the ocean still! To make matters worse, they serve plain, white sliced bread as a starter and when we asked for balsamic and olive oil, the waiter brought us white vinegar! Even worse, the waitress then tried to take our plates away while we were clearly still eating, which felt rushed and disrespectful. The pizza was nothing special—just average and uninspired. To top it all off, we felt pressured into tipping, despite the meal being far below standard. Overall, a frustrating and unpleasant experience. I immediately loved how the restaurant looked, sophisticated & chic. The service was quick, though it's quiet this evening, Thursday. Cheesey garlic bread is huge, best shared, I then had the duck which was fab, hubby stuck to his favourite, 🍕. The chosen dessert for us both was the lemon cheesecake, my personal opinion, not sharp & lemony enough but delicious nevertheless. We dropped into the newly opened Villa Verde today for an impromptu lunch and were very pleasantly surprised. The menu offered a wide choice and we sampled 6 different dishes over 3 courses; they were all very attractively presented and were all truly delicious. The wine was also very good! The staff were very friendly, polite and attentive. We rated our visit as excellent and will definitely be back. We would certainly recommend the Villa Verde to anyone looking for an extremely good restaurant with an Italian flavour. ...
