After an enjoyable lunch on Boxing Day 2022, I decided to come here again with my Nan. She opted for Hunter’s Chicken on the Lunch menu, and I decided on the Hunter’s Chicken Melt under Sandwiches and Jacket Potatoes. However, I was told at the bar that neither of these sections of the menu were being served. This left us with a very limited selection (and I don’t recall any such limitations being mentioned when making the booking). On the basis that it was “as good as” the Lunch option, the server recommended the Bigger Appetites Hunter’s Chicken from the Kids menu for my Nan. I ended up going for the Chicken Wings Sharer. We were both bemused by the small portion my Nan received, and mine wasn’t much better. There was no check-back during or after our meals, and so we left feeling pretty let down compared to last time. It certainly wasn’t worth almost £25. I wrote an email and received something of a bitter response, albeit with the offer to come back for a free lunch (“Although we haven’t done anything wrong…more than happy to invite you back”) So, we decided to give it another go. I asked if I was able to order something under Sandwiches, but it was the Lunch Deal only. There’s only about 5 choices on there, so I just got scampi. It was average, hence the 3-star. I reckon that’s us done with Warton Arms, at least for now!

The Warton Arms is a nice pub. It looks a real old cosy proper pub with a thatched roof, and a nice garden. It is in fact only 20 odd years old. For a food orientated pub it is better than most. Firstly the beer, it has the usual range of beers, cider and lager but also a decent choice of cask conditioned real ale. The traditional pub food is excellent, the staff are very welcoming and friendly. Like any decent pub it's also has a pool table, and it has a dog friendly area in the pub. Definitely recommended.

Went for Sunday lunch. I fancied a traditional meal, but as I am dairy free that can be a pain. After some negotiation, I had a plate without mashed potatoes, and said no to the Yorkshire pudding as it had milk powder in. Still got a Yorkie delivered tho!! Our meat was very good. My bf's Yorkie was not as crispy as he would have liked. Otherwise as usual. However, if we'd visited any other day of the week, it would have been a very restricted menu. And of course, no dairy free dessert.....

I booked a table for 12 people for what I thought was today but I made a mistake and had booked it for next weekend by mistake, when we realised the staff were really quick to put some tables together to accommodate us. Our table was in a dark corner near a old fireplace but had enough space was awkward getting in and out depending where you sat but I'd made a mistake and the staff did their best to make space for us. Once we'd all arrived, we chose our food one of our party went to place the order so it was altogether the roast dinners wasn't available but it was 5.30pm so expect that on a Sunday. Our starters took a while to arrive, the first starter arrived 10 minutes before the last so the first starters where cold. One of the starters was a children's garlic bread which literally was a slice of a garlic baguette sould really have stated this on the menu as it was for a 11 year old. We waited ages for the plates to be cleared then was waiting forever for the food to arrive, one of our party got up to ask where to food was and was told it would be about 10 minutes and told the pub was busy which we understood but other tables had come in after us and eaten and left while we was still waiting. It took a little while longer but wasn't waiting much longer than the 10 minutes. When the food arrived we didn't have cutlery so asked for some it was slammed on the table by the waitress, we was asked if that was everything to which we said no we were still waiting on a lasagne and a side of onion rings the lasagne arrived the waitress flashed us all a mucky looks and walked away then another came and told us that the onion rings wasn't ordered correctly and would take another 5 minutes. The lasagne should have come with salad and garlic bread and we ordered extra fries got chips but no salad. The chicken and chorizo was explained on the menu as chicken with a potatoes cooked with chorizo served with a marinara sauce and tenderstem broccoli it was a frozen ready cooked chicken breast, with roasted potatoes a little marinara sauce poured over and frozen broccoli florets not tenderstem and some cremated chorizo that was literally black and hidden under the chicken. When we spoke to a waitress we was told that's how it's served!! We have been before knew this was a pub not a restaurant but good god the standard of the food was awful the staff was damn right rude and the manager was sat on his backside on a laptop most of the time we where there. Would...

A very average experience. Staff were very slow to greet us and acknowledge our table booking with several members of staff marching past and not even looking up. I appreciate things can be busy but as with many of my gripes it was clearly not just business but a lack of training or wanting to bother. When we were eventually acknowledged the staff member seemed to be a little annoyed that we had a child with us and cordially told someone else that we'd have to be on a different table now as we couldn't be in the over 18s area. Not a problem but we couldn't specify on the booking so not our fault and like most of the staff interactions we just felt a bit of an issue for having turned up. Staff should be trained to maintain a more pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. When we were seated we chose our meals and waited for someone to take our order as the pub was table service a few weeks before. Having then noticed the QR codes everywhere it seemed things had changed - someone really could have mentioned that as it would have made it less of a puzzle for us. We had to ask what to do as we had a voucher and suffered another cold interaction. Most of the food was fine but one of the party had a Sunday dinner which was very second-hand looking. Grey potatoes, stuffing which looked like it seen better days and near raw carrots with dirty skin on them. Meals were also served 3 out of 5 first with at least a 5 minute gap between for the other 2 to appear. It doesn't sound long but it feels it when you sit there waiting! Overall any of the individual things doesn't seem much and it's hard to describe the vibe of the place well in a few sentences but the staff could do with a better more genuine approach to customer service. I wouldn't say they were unfriendly but it just wasn't a nice feeling interacting with them. At least we didn't have to ask for a bill!

I don't thing we'll be going back...

We came with the family this evening and were not impressed with the food, and the service was definitely lacking. After a very long wait for our food, one plate was dropped by a member staff on the way to the table. The rest of the meals eventually arrived however no one came over to tell us what had happened to the remaining meal until we asked why one member of the family was still waiting. No one at the table enjoyed their meal - lots of the food was over cooked, dry and/or lacked flavour. We had to wait for the correct amount of cutlery to be given to us and no one offered us condiments or asked if we needed more drinks, we had to leave our table and find a member of staff to ask for more drinks and we still had a lengthy wait for this to happen. We were told that we would be given money off of our bill and we trusted that this would be done correctly, however upon checking the receipt once home we found that items we ordered that were sold out had been added to the bill so we still ended up overpaying. I understand that Saturday evening is a prime time for business however we saw a number of staff standing around behind the bar when others were clearly struggling to get food out of the kitchen. The lack of communication when one meal was missing for such a long time was unacceptable, and the restaurant wasn’t even at full capacity. All of my family members have visited the Warton Arms numerous times over the years, however we have not been totally impressed on recent visits and unfortunately this was the final straw; we won’t be back. It’s a shame that what could have been a lovely family night out was ruined by poor service and...
