Honest review: Mixed feelings about this one. Went there with my wife and my 2 year old son to discover for an evening meal. Staff behind the bar were very friendly and, with drinks in hand, we quickly got a table with a high chair already there. Felt impressed and very welcomed as we normally would ask if possible to get one and would have to search awkwardly around all the area for one. The spot given was near the kitchen entry, cozy, cool area. Mains and kid meal arrived quickly and staff looking kindly after us. Food wise : I had the sword fish steak and it was amazing served with a juicy grilled lemon slice and leeks were cheesy tasty, the patatoe cake was warm enough and soft. Loved it ! 5/5. The chicken burger looked lightly charcoal burned on some parts and smelled great but was bland, dry, overcooked. The chips were crunchy and soft inside but it's chips... 2/5. We didn't complain because the staff was really nice when we arrived and the young waitresses were looking busier. Kids meal: Huge portion and it was good 4/5. After finishing mains, we decided to overlook the burger and have deserts, as the chocolate smore's pots were very tempting, what the heck, let's go for it maybe it's going to be one of those things it just melts in your mouth and you say man that was good! We asked for an ice cream ball for the boy. Normally, waiting is part of the game, but we waited roughly about 35 mins and trying to distract the little one and still no one had taken our main plates or taking deserts ordering so we piled the plates up thinking maybe it's going to be seen. Staff was going in and out of the kitchen quickly and passing by us pretty often at speedy pace so they would notice at least. Plates were taken shortly after. Maybe we had to order the deserts at the bar ? So went there and got deserts ordered. It was a different staff but she was equally friendly. Deserts: quite disappointing for the price. Didn't finish mine (2/5) and wife ate hers because she was still hungry from burger (3/5). The choc smore's pot is a hard and thick weird milk choc ganache with a little drizzle of caramel sauce and some biscuit crumbs topped with a rubbery cold-warm smore's mess on the top side of the glass. Not worth the 6,95£ each. Ice cream ball for the toddler (5/5). Overall a disappointing experience. Lockdown isn't easy on pubs and such but with a normal tab of 55£ instead of 27£ without the (Eotho scheme) this comes has pretty expensive for an average eating out experience. Not really...

Visited last year and the food was fabulous so decided to return with 16 family members. Oh dear, what a let down. The menu has completely changed to basic menu and it was awful. Even the children said the food was not good and every one of us were highly disappointed. Starters were hit and miss e.g. garlic cheese mushrooms actually all that had ordered them said, they could not taste any garlic at all. I had the pork snitzel, it was served with mash, peas and gravy, it was absolutely dreadful, wafer thin, fatty and over cooked, I couldn't eat it, few of my family tried a piece and said it was horrible, the meal was also totally bland. Most of the guests had fish and chips, said it was just ok but at £16.50, one would expect better, the snitzel was also £16.50 but was not worth £5. In all fairness the proprietor did remove the cost off the bill. Service was dreadful as well, we waited over an hour between courses. I did ask why they had changed the menu, to be told, they are new proprietor and could not have the previous menu as was not fresh!! Really? Well, I don't think breaded snitzel, battered fish, deep fried scampi etc etc are classed as fresh food, but rather comes out of a frozen bag! They do have a 5 star hygiene certificate but that in no way makes up for the poor menu and dreadfully cooked food. Hasten to add, non of us will...

This pub was a recommendation from family member.

And I was very empress with the ambience of the place and the younger member of staff was amazing friendly and helpful.

The White Hart allso has Play area in the garden and my boys had great fun we had a hard job getting them out when it was time to go.

I would of given 5* but couple of things stoped me from giving 5 star's.

I enjoyed my cod and chips but it was small amount and at £13.95 and I would of been still hungry if I didn't order bread and butter with it and maybe an idea including bread and butter with the meal as this would be more reasonable to charge £13.95. and the puddings were great but we're small and we're between £7 and £8 and should of been £5 what would of been fair for the really small size.

The other negative was the middle age lady I know from other reviews she has been mentioned.

She was unfriendly boarding on rude when she took our dessert order, the body language was hostile.

I feel if these 2 negatives could be improved the overall rateing would...

I visited here multiple times during a 3-week stay in area. Most of the times I had only a drink but twice I had a meal. The new (as of Feb 2025 I think) proprietors, Monica and her daughter, are wonderful and kind people. They were a joy to spend time with. The crowd of regulars were nice and welcoming people. I enjoyed “open mic” night, which happens on the last Thursday of the month. The two meals I had were nice. I appreciated that they did up a homemade vegetarian burger when I requested one. I hope they do well as they re-cultivate the pub, which I understand from the locals was struggling before Monica and her daughter took over. I can imagine there will be some hitches - for example, if a large group or two comes in unexpectedly - but they have the right spirit. I look forward to returning when I’m next in the area. Second time visiting here Lovely traditional country pub with beams across the ceilings. Dogs are welcome. The Pub is split into eating side and a casual snug side and is complimented by a spacious bet garden with climbing graves for the kids. Varied normal menu of traditional pub fayre although tonight we thought we'd try out the fish menu. Nice range and we had the Seabass and Swordfish, both well cooked and very tasty. Good selection of potatoes to accompany as well as choice of salads or veg. My Swordfish plate may look a little empty but was my choice as I didn't fancy salad or veg, the Dauphinois potatoes however were excellent. Staff were attentive, chatty, friendly and helpful, couldn't ask for better. A lovely evening and well worth a trip off your passing.

On a sunny day, almost any pub with a garden is commendable. The White Hart in Iron Acton is particularly so, being out in the countryside and on the Cask Marque Ale Trail. The pub is quite old, circa 1892, but the usual refurbishment by Greene King when they acquired it three years ago, opened out multiple bars into a spacious and sensitively modern format.
