We visited this establishment today for Father's day. I had informed staff on booking that one of our children was autistic and some things needed to be just so. My goodness everything was perfect, I couldn't believe how clean it was for a start. I always take anti bac wipes with me everywhere because my son has a big thing around cleanliness, I swiped my wipe across this table as usual and there was not a spec of dirt, other establishments we have visited were filthy so this was a lovely surprise. Immediately my son was put at ease. I had requested I quiet remote table, the table that had been reserved for us was still busy so the staff found somewhere else for us to be that was just as perfect. When it came to ordering, (this is where most places fall short) we had a few requests to make with regards to certain foods not being on the meals, this was absolutely no problem for them! It wasn't even a problem that he wanted more Yorkshires just individually. Nothing was too much, all of our needs were met! I can honestly say we've never been treated with such care and respect when coming out as a family. Coming out to eat is something we don't do all that much because many places aren't autism friendly, they don't understand, many places don't go above and beyond but the staff here today certainly went above and beyond! Our son has even requested that we COME BACK! Never before have these words been uttered! Thank you all so much, today meant alot more to us than you...
Read moreLast twice I've been has been woeful, last time long wait and one of the orders wrong, tonight was just a cluster** though. Ordered food wasn't the most convincing person taking order, took a long time he apologised that it would be up to an hour wait on food. An hour passed, another 15 minutes passed and I asked where our food was. Told will be a little while longer, was asked if we'd like a free round but explained we'd just bought 1, no 'oh let us refund that for you'. Another 10 minutes pass and a lady came to the table to apologise and offer drink again as food delayed, said I wanted a promise the food would be here in next 20 minutes not unreasonable to expect service in an 1hr 45 after we ordered. But no we were told no they couldn't promise that despite promising a 1HR service. Took the refund and went home but still out of money on drinks and time wasted. Won't return. Plenty of others in the same boat in there, maybe get your manager rather than staff to go around to customers earlier to apologise and explain that service will be longer than originally planned before people start to complain next time?
They said there was only 1 chef on as an explanation but if that's the case, why continue taking orders? Or why not trim the menu so it's quicker turnaround? Woeful communication from staff, not that I blame them the management was nowhere to be seen, just not...
Read moreWe had a great family meal out. Service was good and our main server was particularly keen to be helpful - apologising over small delays to meals and offering a part refund on our desserts when these were delayed due to issues with a new dessert chef. Indeed the delays were relatively minor and not a big issue for us. There was the usual good choice of food that we are accustomed to in Marstons restaurants and the food was well-presented and of a high quality. The restaurant were very responsive to allergies (I am coeliac) and did not make the mistake of assuming that mine was the only dietary need (my daughters are also intolerant to nuts and this was identified due to the diligence of the restaurant staff). I was surprised that the restaurant did not provide full table service, but this was not a big problem and slight variations to meals were dealt with reasonably well. When one small mistake was made (I was provided with fries after having asked for a change to chips instead) I was promptly provided with a bowl of chips...
