We visited the White Horse Inn as a group of nine, some with dietary requirements (vegan and gluten-free). Although we had pre-booked and pre-ordered with confirmation that these needs could be met, we were told upon arrival that the vegan roast dinners were not actually vegan, due to non-vegan ingredients used during pre-prep by the head chef.

Our server, Kira, was exceptional—honest, helpful, and genuinely tried to fix the situation. As a gesture of goodwill, the cost of the unsuitable vegan meals was written off, which we appreciated. Still, those with dietary needs were left with a very small meal made from whatever was available in the kitchen at the time, and the chef never came to speak with us.

Most concerning is that the menu labels dishes as “vegan” when they are not—something that not only misleads customers but may also breach the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008.

If you don’t have dietary requirements, the food and service might suit you well. But if you or someone you’re dining with does, I’d strongly recommend avoiding this establishment until their kitchen practices are brought up...

New owners few months ago and wow....I hadn't been here for a long time as the food went downhill with the previous owners,I use to visit often and after today I shall be returning.Being in hospitality myself I can be fussy the food I had was imense all fresh,I had the steak rump 10z and was so tender exactly how issued it to be cooked and what I wanted with it and all the trimmings and sauce my nan had lasagne a smaller portion which suited her and both had dessert which was homemade and presentation was spot on.The service which is the main thing g when out was fabulous and couldn't fault it the young lady with blonde hair was so sweet lovley with my nan and had a great sense of humour and noticed she was great with other customers also which makes the place,I see they do breakfast I must try also booked a Xmas party here where the menu looks great value for money. The pub was clean and toilets were spotless and when leaving got a warm goodbye which made a difference and made our visit. We Definitely will be back and tell others about this great place thankyou for a...

Having asked this pub if their chef was able to adapt their Sunday carvery for 8 of our group of 10 who have dietary needs, and giving them the courtesy of over a week's warning of what we needed when booking, all after offering them the opportunity of saying it was too difficult, they took our booking. then on Friday night they sent me the menu the chef had decided upon. The whole menu was deliberately created so we couldn't eat it; every starter, main and dessert! And what was worse, they gave me just one day to find an alternative for a Sunday Lunch that could accommodate our needs AND have room for 10 of us! They then had the cheek to ask me to confirm if I still wanted the booking because they had people waiting to book in!!!!! It was blatantly obvious they had less awkward people waiting and wanted rid of us. To say I'm absolutely livid is an...

The pub itself is lovely, however the food wasn’t the greatest unfortunately. We’ve been going for years and, although we were a big group, the veg was basically veg that had been unfrozen and not cooked properly and the meat wasn’t very good. The desserts weren’t great either. The one thing that was delicious was the gluten free nut roast! We definitely have that again! Overall, we were a bit disappointed as this was our family Christmas meal! Despite this, the staff was great and made it the best they could! Hospitality 10/10!

Lovely little find after the road I was heading for was closed. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a lovely lady behind the bar. I was famished, so I asked if food was being served. The kitchen had closed 20 mins before I arrived. However, she asked what I wanted, which was bread and olives. Nothing was too much trouble, and within 10 mins, it arrived. I sat next to the log burner whilst working and munching away. This is a lovely pub, and I look forward to popping in again when I'm next in the area

A traditional village pub that really delivers on all fronts. Friendly service, a great range of real ales, beers, wines and spirits and the food was…amazing! We had the (homemade) chicken and chorizo Kyiv and the veggie burger and both were outstanding. The beer garden is lovely too. There’s great walks nearby too by the river. Visit!!
