Lovely country pub and eaterie in a picturesque village in rural Dorset. I had the beef, mushroom and ale pie with a seasonal vegetable side and roast potatoes. Everything was cooked really well and the portion size is quite impressive. The wait for food can be a bit long at busy times but the quality of the food more than makes up for this and doesn't detract from the overall experience. The staff are friendly and welcoming and were very understanding despite our late arrival (two accidents on the A35, not ideal!). A wonderful experience all round. Highly recommended. PS. The menu is wide-ranging and we were pleased to help by phoning in our choices before arrival. We were given three tables situated together in the bar. We stopped by for their fish and chips night with the children and not only did we have the best fish and chips I can remember in my adult life but there was a charming atmosphere, friendly staff who made you feel like you were welcome in their home.
