Dreadful. We had a Sunday roast,. As there was no vegetarian option for myself I opted for the roast dinner with no meat. My dinner was exactly the same size as my husband’s but without the meat, I was charged the same price for my meal as my husband but for half the dinner, I questioned the staff member who made an enquiry but we were told no, the price was the same, this has never ever happened to us before. The menu listed the Sunday roast as having “crispy” roast potatoes, they were pale, unroasted and very insipid looking,, the listed “seasonal” vegetables were peas and carrots, the whole roast dinner was lame, shoddy and for my meal expensive. The 2 members of staff were friendly and lovely, that is worth mentioning,, they can claim the one star, I would have preferred to leave no stars, but based on our experience today, we definitely could not recommend this pub for a Sunday dinner at all

We took a walk along the footpaths through the fields and stopped for a drink. A lucky coincidence there is live Jazz on the first Sunday of the month. I think starting at 5pm. We had a lovely time. If you go just for the music, I'd check first in case that changes! Also, food on Sunday is 12-4pm only. It's improved since the last time I went a year or 2 back.

Arrived as a walk-in on a very quiet evening, and was told that service would start at 5 for food. We ordered drinks and the fruit trays were in need of a change, as the fruit was gone off and manky and hadn’t been swapped for fresh fruit. Very kindly, the bartender bought me over the fruit. We waited about 30 minutes to have an order taken from us, and we ordered the charcuterie board, fish & chips, and the chicken Milanese. The charcuterie board was lovely, the olives weren’t fresh however so they were very mushy and not enjoyable, the rest was delightful. When it came to eating starters, we could smell a really strong fish odour that took out the whole bar. The presentation of the mains was lovely, the Milanese looked gorgeous. The fish batter was a really odd, pastel-yellow colour and the veg was not fresh whatsoever, the cucumber was actually chewy. The chicken was so dry and was almost inedible, while the tomato sauce had no taste at all. The staff made such an effort to accommodate us despite the fact that there was an over-run meeting on, so we didn’t want to cause any other hassle and just paid & left. We both think the restaurant is beautiful, and has lots of potential. It’s a shame about the experience, however it’s clear from other reviews that others do enjoy here. Another note is that you should be more discrete about how you’re supplying your meat, as going to the car park & watching staff take meat out of the boot of an unrefrigerated car is not ideal, gave us quite the stomach...

Early evening visit after a walk with granddaughter. Pub empty apart from group of (loudly swearing) men who left soon after. Bar staff friendly and as helpful as he could be. Very irritating music playing too loudly from speaker above table- probably trying to inject some atmosphere into a pub without any! For various reasons had to settle for my 4th choice item on menu- cottage pie and veg. Granddaughter chose sausage and mash and they were able to provide child's portion which was positive. When our meal arrived, it looked okay. But the cottage pie was absolutely disgusting, a thin layer of crisp mash, with what looked like wallpaper glue underneath, sitting on grey water with bits of brownish mince floating in it- I've never seen anything like it before, and hope to never again! I sent this back, and decided to eat at home. My granddaughter ate hers, but the mash was lumpy and the gravy just tasted of salt. Not sure who is doing the cooking, but the food didn't appear to have been cooked by a chef! Drinks only in future- or travel a mile up the road to...

I was working in Eaton bray for couple of day and I thought of checking somewhere to go for a drink, went on Google and found the horse 🐎 pub day 1i ordered fish and chips and I was served by jude she's friendly and welcoming. One thing I didn't like with the fish and chips is the puried green peas not my thing at all I think customers should have option to choose I didn't like peas mashed also i prefer flat fish instead of cube shape it was too suggy (waterly) because it's cooked from freezer, drink was nice and chill berries and cherries cider. Day 2 I went there on a Sunday and I couldn't get in try to ring the doorbell no one came to my rescue I was there for more than 10 min couldn't get in ,then I saw ladies coming out they struggled to open from inside too the door is broken need fixing 💔 🙃 sad.i wasn't bothered I went home that's really bad .I Don't blame people looking at me though the window because is not there business to someone and help.i will revisit again and leave a...
