We've been coming to Cornwall for 30 years and never knew this little gem existed. A beautiful stone building tucked deep in Cardingham Woods. Surrounded by beautiful forestry, a well maintained play area with plenty of seating, nature trails, ample (paid) parking, and a quaint little ice cream hut. The only reason I haven't given a 5*, perhaps unfairly as there is little the owners can do but is relevant to the guest experience, is the swarm of wasps disturbing those eating outside. In addition, we were joined by a horse rider who brought her horse into the seating area. A pretty spectacular sight until it emptied it's bowels right in the middle of the eating area giving off the most tremendous stench and clearing the area. Unless the rider was carrying a black bag and a shovel, it's probably still there. We didn't hang around to find out. Manuregate aside, the team are extremely friendly and it's definitely worth a visit if you're in Newquay.

We stopped at this little cafe in the woods a few years ago when visiting Devon. We enjoyed our visit so much that we made sure to get on the road in time to stop on our way to Cornwall. Their food is delicious and done to a high standard. We enjoyed bacon, brie, and cranberry sandwiches. The bread is like doorstops but so soft and moreish. Their scones are also very moreish, soft, and fluffy on the inside, with a slight crunch to the outside. Served warm, perfect with jam and cream, accompanied by a cup of tea. The location is stunning and very peaceful. Great place to get out and explore. The atmosphere inside the cafe is perfect, cosy, and very welcoming. Highly recommend a visit.

Woods Cafe has to be just about the most amazing place in Cornwall. We do use it regularly throughout the year. On wintry days there's always a log fire burning with a welcoming hot chocolate and selection of homemade cakes to enjoy, all lit up with fairy lights or visit in the summer and sit outside in the gardens with the best savoury cream tea you've ever tasted! A very special place for me and my family, set right in the heart of Cardinham Woods, a great way to spend a day....Dogs are welcome, they even sell treats for them! Seth gives their cuppa's and sausage sandwiches a big thumbs up!

We would not recommend this cafe, especially if you have dogs. We visited on two occasions, both of which we were met with poor service and petulant rules. Firstly on bank holiday Monday we visited just after 3 to be very rudely told they were take away only, against what we read on their website that morning (that it's take away after 3.30). We visited again after walking one of the trails with our two dogs as they claim to be dog friendly. It was absolutely pouring down with rain. We sat down and my partner went to ask for a dog water bowl, only to be told the dogs have to have that outside as the water could get on the floors. Bearing in mind it was throwing it down, the floors were wet already, every person and dog in the cafe were dripping water everywhere, I'd never heard such a ridiculous rule, and you cannot claim to be dog friendly if you can't give your dog water in the venue! Never as dog owners have we been in a dog friendly establishment that doesn't allow a dog to have a drink after a walk. The fact that it was pouring and the floors were soaking wet anyway from wet shoes, dogs and a motorised scooter just shows what a joke it was! You're either dog friendly or you aren't. Not recommended, however the walking trails...

High expectations were sadly not achieved on our visit. On a positive we had a gift voucher going back to precovid which was honoured. The food was nothing what I would call exceptional, and a very limited menu available. The cake was burnt and dry and lacked any real taste. I suspect a mass produced buy in instead of a local home made version. Currently closed on a Monday and Tuesday because of staff shortages which I suspect is the underlying reason for it short falls at the moment. The staff were very friendly and obliging given the situation they were in. Once we get back to into the new normal in this world I would be happy to visit again and give it a second chance. Lovely location in the woods with all the available walks courtesy of the...
