Am afraid Yu really did not live up to the Elcot experience - I have been to the main resto, spa and hotel many times and love it. This was the first time we tried Yu and it was very, very disappointing. The server was wonderful and it’s a nice room but the food was really not good. In fact it was terrible! The Bak Choi was either very old or just very poor quality - it was basically inedible. The miso soup was like a watery milk. I eat Japanese a lot and so do know what a miso should look and taste like - I don’t know what that was but it was not miso soup! £150 for two people - including 3 glasses of wine - overpriced bad Asian food just is not acceptable. Would recommend this to anyone in the area looking to...

The miso soup resembled a simple chicken broth, lacking depth. The cauliflower popcorn was soft rather than crispy, though the teriyaki glaze was a highlight. The pork pancake was bland, and the uramaki, while pleasant, felt dry. A 35-minute wait for the final main completely broke the flow — and strangely, there was no dessert or sweet course to finish.
For the cost, we expected something more refined and memorable. Disappointing overall, so I...
