This was the 3rd time we had visited, the first time food was very nice and staff and clientele seemed ok, second time food was ok but not as good as first time. So on our Wedding Anniversary I thought we would have a meal at the Horns And Horseshoes, we ordered our food.
A succulent 8oz Sirloin Steak cooked to your liking and served with hand-cut Chips, Peas, Mushrooms and Onion Rings. and Locally sourced 8oz Gammon Steak served with free-range Eggs, hand-cut Chips and Peas.
During the 45 min wait for our meal some men came in and started to swear using the C & F word so we moved table, then the food arrived the first thing noticed was the 1 egg Not Eggs was not cooked and the white was still runny and the chips were frozen not hand-cut, when my wife meal arrived with the same frozen chips, so she said the menu said hand-cut chips which the lady checked then came back and said they had run out, and the lady who served us should had said but said had left now
Then my wife cut into her steak and was pink inside, bearing in mind I had asked for it very well done and almost burnt , I took it back to the bar only for the lady to come back to the table and said it was well done,at this point we left and went home. Also if this is locally sourced Gammon the they need to look elsewere. My wife was very upset that not only had this ruined your day but had also waisted £24
So if you like rubbish food and don't mind bad language this is the place for you, but if like us that's not your idea of a good night...
Read moreThe mens toilets have recently been renivated and renewed and are apparently a vast improvement. The lock is broken on one of the ladies' toilet doors and has been a while, no hot water for hand washing and lighting not great. Which is disappointing as the pub area looks great. Lovely friendly staff. This could be a fantastic place, but ls let down greatly by the ladies' toilet facilities. They are going to renovate the ladies as well at some point, hopefully sooner rather than late. The seating is a bit hit & miss too some seats are very much better...
Read moreA bit of a mixed bag. Food range of choice good and reasonable prices, but our sausages well cooked. Other patrons behaved well, had a sense of humour and respected our peace to have a family meal. Really grateful for that. Service at table was fine and not hurried. Dog friendly. Large car park but absolutely pitch black on a rainy night with some light commercial vehicles appearing to share the car park. Be careful reversing and watch for potholes. Dropped an extra star for that! Maybe go again during...
