We visit Miller and Carter in Harlow on a weekly basis firstly for the excellent service and secondly for the lovely food. We visited on Sunday and ordered our usual Steaks and the chefs in the Kitchen decided to send me out a Rib Eye steak instead of a well done Sirloin that I ordered. How can a Steak Chef not know the difference between a Sirloin and a Rib Eye ? Second attempt for my well done Sirloin the chefs decide to ignore my order again and send out a Medium sirloin ! These guys really need to do their job properly its a steak house and the wrong steak should never be sent out and as steak chefs they should know the difference between medium and well done. I am paying for the steak so I want it cooked how I want to eat it not how they want to serve it !

Third time lucky and the steak was a well done Sirloin. Ordered Greens which consisted of just peas and runner beans. This always has Broccoli on it but again the chefs in the kitchen couldnt be bothered to serve the dish what we were paying for ! We didnt even bother to say anything as 3 hours had passed already.

Lovely Amy was looking after us and was fantastic dealing with the chefs incompetence to get our order right and helped to finally get the correct dinners to our table. 5 Stars for the excellent service we received from Amy

Thanks to the incompetent steak Chefs it was 4 hours later we finally left the Restaurant !!!!!

There was a large group having a meal upstairs that decided to start playing there own music loudly in the restaurant which drowned out the music being played on the Miller and Carter speakers which I found very unprofessional for the customers sitting down stairs in the restaurant. This did not seam to bother the management at all. I thought this was a restaurant not a party venue! When you walked upstairs to the toilet the group looked at you like you shoudnt be up there visiting the restaurants toilets. In the 10+ years we have visited the restaurant never experience this before.

All in all a disastrous evening but will return because of the excellent professional service we receive from Amy and the other front of house staff which has kept us going there for the...

Booked a table here last night (Saturday) for myself and my partners anniversary as we decided to make it our little thing as we share the love of steak! On arrival we were seated straight away and waited around 20 minutes for our drinks and food order to be taken, this wasn’t really an issue as we could see it was busy and we had time, the waitress sat a couple down next to us but where the tables are set it felt like we were all on the same table, I asked the waitress if we can move table to one where someone just left and we don’t mind waiting for it to be cleared and she said it’s not possible as we have ordered our food already, this made our night quite uncomfortable, we only come here for special occasions as the food is normally amazing. I ordered the tbone and my partner ordered the sirloin both asked for medium Our steaks came out and we cut into them and they were both very much rare to the point of our steaks actually being cold! When I flipped the steak over on my t bone there was only lines going one way, I understand it’s busy but paying a lot of money you would think they would take more care The waitress passed us and I tried to get her attention, after saying excuse me for the 3rd time I gave up, we received no check back which made it alittle more awkward and I could tell the table next us also felt uncomfortable for how close they were to us. I’ve attached pictures of my steak. It’s really a let down as the money we spent we didn’t really want to go anywhere else, it’s a shame as this place was our go to and we didn’t enjoy it at all. When asking for the bill I asked the waiter that bought our drinks over if I can scan my miller and carter loyalty card and he said hes not sure and will go and get someone, another lady came back and gave the card machine to my partner, we got up and walked to the front and I asked the lady seating people if she can add it to my card and she said no not without the bill and as I asked is there anyway of doing it because that’s a lot of money she just walked away. We left after this with a bad experience and a let down to what was meant to be a...

I have to be honest here. I've been lucky enough to bounce into here twice in one week. Wednesday and yesterday, the bar is a little antiquated, a soda and lime comes out of what looked like a Tesco bottle, fair enough I can live with that. Bar staff were friendly enough 4 stars for them. Reception was excellent, shown to table and very friendly on the Wednesday 5 stars. Yesterday they must have been short staffed. We had a room for 13 upstairs and once seated there was a 15 / 20 minute wait for drinks order. Then a wait for drinks, another long delay for food order.. staff were friendly but looked under pressure. Food orders went in. Starters drifted in with bowls of lettuce, starters tasted ok, I had scallops, reasonable size but we're steamed rather than a nice seared top, one or two other had same. But 3 stars for mine. Waitress then cam back to say they were out of rib eye on the bone. This was the same last week. Half the steaks on the menu were not available. Very disappointing. It is obviously a favourite so get the stocks right! Re-orderd and then what probably indicated short staff and ruined the food was delivery in various stages of steaks with wrong sauces, cold plates sucking the heat out of the food very quickly, sides coming up very late. Again not specific people's faults but definitely a short coming of M&C. And to happen twice in less than a week to the same customer is just plain poor service. So if you want a middle ground steak I'd choose the time of your visit carefully. Personally I'll look elsewhere and pay a little extra for better service, better food. Shame. This could be a massive...

Honestly, a bit disappointed. I arrived as a walk in and wasn't able to be seated unless I gave my full name and phone number to create a booking at the desk (what?). The front of house literally refused to let me eat in the restaurant unless I gave them my personal data. I assume to sell or market to me? Collect demographics? No GDPR policy shown so I'm still quite curious to see if they contact me. I ordered ribs but they don't marinade them in the bbq sauce so what you get is a bought in sous vide rib pack that is warmed and then squired with bbq sauce. So they don't actually cook this on site. The slow cooked ribs in tesco at identical. The ribs are also marked as coming with a slaw, but it's the size of a small ramakin - literally a mouthful. Not sure why you'd make it that small, it's cabbage and costs pennies. I felt like I didn't get value on this occasion and really disliked not being able to just sit down in a restaurant to eat without giving away my data.
