Bulls Head — Restaurant in Erewash

Sadly, dreadful! Been going here for 20+ years- never again! Our table was booked for 6.30, not peak time. We were advised of an hours wait for food? OK, so we waited. There was just not enough staff-1 on the bar, 1 waitress & apparently 2 in the kitchen( the landlord advised) The steaks did arrive within 45 mins-great! The steak was terrible fatty,full of gristle, very poor quality meat. We had to remove virtually every mouthful of meat. The waitress removed the plates & asked if all OK. We advised no, the steak was inedible . She just said that she would advise the chef- totally disinterested! We then went to pay, with promotional vouchers & we wanted to split the bill. The waitress didn't know how to to this so she started to input the order in again for 1 person??? Why?? The landlord then appears & says that half the price that had been paid was OK. Fair enough but my friend & I would have preferred to pay full price & enjoy our meal. I advised the Landlord that we had been going for 20+ years but that we would not be returning. He said "well thats up to you" My friends granddaughter had actually worked there a few years ago for 2-3 years. It has gone down hill rapidly. Also just to point out, there was a couple with 2 kids at a table next to the corner of the bar(approx 12 & 5?) Drying cutlery on full view of the customers. The couple were trying to help the staff cope & started clearing glasses & tables. Very kind of them...but..! Get more staff & change the meat suppliers & attitude of the waitress. We understand she was stressed & wow did...

Went here for a family gathering there was 15 of us and there may have been 3 other tables of about 2-3 people in the pub. Food was very slow to arrive and most of us had finished before the last person got their main. The children's meals - though a nice way of ordering, allowing the selection of items to mix and match. For over £3 they are not really worth it. My son had 4 chicken dippers 4 carrot sticks and about 7 chips. I was very unimpressed. The burger I ordered was very greasy and I may have had about double the chips my son had, for £11 it was not worth it we spent over £115 before deserts on food that was worth much less. I had to nip to get a change of cloths for my son and left as the puddings where ordered and was gone about 20-30mins and I was still back before the last one arrived at the table. I have no idea what took them so long as they all ordered cold deserts. My son wanted the "blue" ice cream (the picture showed blue ice cream in a blue tub) he was very upset when boring white vanilla ice cream turned up in a glass bowl. The staff seemed very upset that we were in the pub. My partner needed to take our youngest to have a nappy change. When she asked the person behind the bar (turns out it was the manager) she was greeted with a huff and a key thrown in her general direction. Over all a very bad experience and slow service despite the fact that they where in no way busy. I certainly won't...

My friend and I attended the Bulls Head , Breaston this evening with our children after receiving a leaflet advertising 30% off. Unfortunately, we didn't enjoy the food or experience and were not offered 30% off? We were unable to sit outside due to others smoking cigarettes, there didn't appear to be a designated smoking area which meant we would be smelling and breathing in smoke if we'd chosen to sit outside. The website suggests there is a outdoor garden area. The pizzas we ordered were burnt , (please see pictures attached) and did not arrive with the choice or bbq or mayo dip. My son's fish was tasteless and the mushy peas looked as though they'd been sat out for a while , as they were dried out on top. Whilst dining , two staff members were moving furniture around us , which made us feel in the way and rushed. Overall I felt the interior is tired , worn and appeared grimy with sticky tables. The experience has caused so much disappointment, as it was supposed to be a celebration and the leaflet received gave an impression of a high quality village pub serving delicious food.

I hope you take this complaint seriously and consider some re training perhaps especially for the stone baked pizza which i had high hopes for.
