The Captain’s Tea Rooms — Restaurant in Erewash

Disaster. Booked a table and was really looking forward to a nice, end of week lunch. Nobody greeted us when we arrived and we just sat at a table that stated "reserved ". We looked around but couldn't see a menu, so after around 5 minutes, I went to ask a member of staff. She apologised and said that that they were busy and all the menu's were on occupied tables. She gave us some menus and left us to choose our order. Went up to the counter to order a farmhouse platter to share, a milkshake, iced latte, normal latte and an Earl grey tea. We we're told that they no longer served the farmhouse platters and that the menu's needed to be altered. Also, they couldn't do a milkshake because the ice cream machine wasn't on. We chose other options for our lunch and sat back at our table. We we're then approached by a staff member to say that they couldn't do iced latte's, because they had no ice. At that point, we decided to ask for a refund and go somewhere else for lunch. Believe me, we are the last people to moan, but this experience was so...

This would be 0 star but had to select something! Absolutely disgraceful visit. Ordered jacket potatoes with cheese and beans which on the menu was priced at £8.95, the receipt stated we'd been overpriced. Queried this with staff and they said the menu was wrong and the till is correct. The lady was so rude and disrespectful and then said we could just have one of the options for £8.95. This should have been honoured as it is their error that the menus are incorrect but she was adament they were charging more than the menu stated. The managers attitude stank, she didn't care about a bad review being written either. We did get a refund and walked straight out the door to Stable View.

Trading standards comes to mind.

You can't just charge what you like when the price is set...

I hosted a baby shower here and the team couldn’t have been more helpful, in the lead up to, and on the day, to make the afternoon exactly how I pictured it. Afternoon tea was served in a buffet style to 30 guests, with various dietary requirements being catered for. I was able to choose the sandwich fillings and the cakes.. the Fiona Cairns fondant fancies were delicious! I also dropped decorations off on the morning of the event which the team set up, saving myself a lot of the stress that comes with hosting an event. I would highly recommend The Captain’s Tea Rooms for your event, and I will definitely be returning there for any future events I need to host… as well as on the weekend for...
