So my original review was 4 years ago, and to be fair it was 5* and glowing but decided to go there today and was very exited to revisit this place, when we got seated we picked what we wanted fish and chips and a child's dinner, we had the extra side of bread for 99p onto too, now the service was alright and the waiting tike for food was very quick.
But the food was awful the fish had been soaked or frozen and defrosted then thrown stright into the fryer as the fish literally tasted like water, I couldn't eat any of my food I tried a bit and turned my stomach so much I had to stop
Now I have been here a few weeks prior to this for a Sunday carvery and it was really nice portions are good ect but today was a huge let down to the point of me nit waiting to return.
It was a oap day and I feel like there is a bit of a scam going on as oap meals are the same just half the price and we seen people with the fish and chips expecting to go more for the nearly 13 pound price tag and ended up getting the exact same. But the scam is when they have these half price oap days they get the garbage fish ect out and serve it as they know that 90% of people will be paying 50%less
Not fair on the oaps and not fair on the paying customer
Now all in all we both refused the dish and they did take both off the tab plus even took my little girls food off the tab too but we both ended up not eating at all, and still paid for the 2 hit chocolates and fruitshoot
Going home hungry and let down was a big disappointment and I feel they should of offered us something for the inconvenience maybe a % off next time as to be fair I can't see myself or my family...
Read morewell this has to be the worst dining out experience we have ever had. we were sat quite central and very close to the kitchen. All staff had to walk by us numerous times. We were told this was table service however i had to go up and ask for our order to be taken, our drinks were then slammed on the table from a mouse (an unpleasent non speaking staff member with reddish hair). We were then called to collect our carveries (after not being told the process of, wait and somebody will shout you when it’s your turn) again from the same lady with reddish hair. Staff walking past such as Scarlett (management) and many others, would look directly at us and not even smile or make us feel welcome. We felt like we were sat in karen’s diner. the only time we were spoken to is when we were being rushed out ‘are you all done’ no we are not unfortunately, again this was by Scarlett. we were wondering why this place seems very quiet recently and from our experience today we have all the answers as to why. Thankfully we were served by a lovely young lady called Daisy who was very nice and pleasant and more of daisy needs employing or these staff members need correct customer service and front of house training. Least to say we will NOT be returning again and we will become one of many who have made that decision from how quiet it was today. How can the front of house staff be trained on customer service skills when their own management don’t even have these basic skills. This place i can imagine will go under very quickly. Thankyou Daisy, make your escape now. very depressing place to dine at and we wish we stayed home with a...
Read moreWent with my family for sunday lunch today. I ordered the chicken, leek, and stilton pie. I found a small piece of blue plastic in the crust, along with a thin, sharp chicken bone in the filling. I left the pastry (which was too thick and undercooked anyway), scooped out the filling, and went through it to make sure there were no other bones etc. There was also absolutely no hint of stilton in that pie. The whole time I was at the table, no one came to ask if everything is okay with the meal as they usually do. At the end of the meal, I had a very discreet word with one of the waiting staff who was at the main counter by the rear entrance and explained about the plastic and bone in my pie, expecting a profuse apology and possibly the offer of a refund. Instead, he told me "We don't make these in-house and they just kind of come like that so there's not much we can do, so you just have to deal with it. Do you want another or something?". When I told him we had already finished our meals, he said "Oh well, I guess I'll just tell someone in the back" whilst giving me a very smug smile and then walked off without so much as an apology. It's a shame because the chips were out of this world, the gravy and peas were delicious. I live locally (Ilkeston) and my family have eaten at the Newdigate multiple times over the years and this is not the usual standard...
