Okay, so went here on the recommendation of people at work who said the food was "really good and a reasonable price". Not sure what world they live in but definitely not mine. I went with my two daughters, we ordered x2 of the half pounders (with added cheese), a kids meal chicken nuggets, a half pint diet coke and a pint of carling. Paid £.75p each for the added cheese and it wasn't even real cheese, was what I call plastic cheese but is know as Kraft individually wrapped cheese slices (not what I expected for a £9 pub burger. The burger buns where what I am assuming to be Warbertons burger buns which where too small for the burger and where actually stale. My kids chicken nuggets came in two different varieties (must have run out of one back and had to use a pack that was a different brand) and they came on a cheap plastic plate (same ones we have at home that they had when they where babies). The chips where not actually cooked properly and where inedible. Condiments came in packets and didn't have enough catsup for everyone (which didn't really matter as no one could eat the chips. The total for everything was £30.75! Which for pub food to me feels extortionate, not even factoring in that we all left hungry. I will never eat here again, eating out is a treat for me, a luxury, so I really hate wasting my money on horrible food, but thought I would try this pub based on recommendations. At least I know now and didn't suffer the embarrassment of taking a woman on a date there. Lol There are so many better alternatives out there, I would recommend you find a better place to eat and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAfter cycling past the sign outside advertising their home cooked gluten free menu I thought we'd give it a go. My wife's coeliac so eating gluten-free is annoyingly important. The menu is good and there are many GF options on it, the wife had fish and chips and I had a curry, we both had pudding. All the food was freshly cooked, quickly served and very nice. The staff were lovely and provided great service, they obviously care about what they're doing. Regarding atmosphere - it's a proper local pub that happens to serve good food, has the atmosphere of a local pub and a great playlist. If you want some fancy gastro-pub where food is twice the price and the atmosphere is different, this...

Addendum; 5th October 2025. For a family celebration (11 people) on a significant birthday for my wife, there is only one choice for stress free gluten free dining, Sir Joseph Paxton. As with my earlier review, the food and service here is exceptional, and the quality is maintained visit after visit. Everyone in the birthday party commented they had a wonderful roast lunch meal. Good portions, lashings of gravy, and followed by wonderful puddings for those partaking of sweet treats. Cost wise the food is excellent value.
Well done Sir Joseph Paxton, we look forward to...
