Had mixed grill asked for salad instead of chips. They brought it out with chips (I don't eat chips) sent it back. I asked for steak to be medium rare it came out well done. The wife's meal was very bland. No one came over and asked us if the meal was OK. When we paid we said about the issues they just said we will tell the owners. We certainly won't be going back. The lady at the bar did not apologise or even seem bothered!

Had a lunchtime meal last Monday and the staff and food was faultless. Learned they do a ā€˜Real East End’ Pie & Mash on Friday’s & Saturday’s so booked a meal for last night - I’m originally born in St Andrews Hospital, Bow We’ll we couldn’t fault it and looking at other non pie and mash meals they all looked great Suggest you book if you want to be sure of a table Faultless food and service. A 5 Star rating from me šŸ‘šŸ˜Š

A really great place to stay. Great value for money. The Straw Bear was a home from home. The facilities were excellent, clean and well maintained. The staff were very polite and professional from start to finish. Cooked full English great price and great food. Will be looking to staying here again when in Peterborough.

After two years because of all this stuff I finally got an opportunity to visit my two daughters. One in London and one in Grimsby. I needed a stop over and with the hotels on the A1 asking IMHO daft prices I searched and found The Straw Bear.||||The first impression is that they are very friendly and that did not change during my whole stay. The owner, the chef, the bar staff and even the customers in the pub itself were really helpful.||||The room was immaculate and had good facilities. It was comfortable and very clean. Breakfast was good value and delicious.||||I stayed on a Saturday night so the bar was in full swing. However it did not disturb me in the room and at the time (11.30) as Julie had told me the whole place was silent. I slept really well.||||I recommend this place to all who are passing through the...

Visited on a Sunday afternoon was pleasantly greeted and shown to our table, both of us chose the medium carvery, choices of meat were beef/chicken/pork and gammon, selection of veg were cauliflower/ cabbage/ carrots/ broccoli/ and carrot and swede mash and roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding with stuffing, we chose beef and gammon both of which were superbly cooked, all of the veg was very nice and the roast potatoes were to die for, and a nice Yorkshire pud as well, all very nice ingredients and the gravy wasn't bad either, with very pleasant and polite staff, overall a...
