We booked a table for nine to enjoy a roast dinner after being at the crematorium. On arrival our drinks order was taken and we enjoyed a short wait outside in the sunshine whilst waiting for our table to be ready. Once our table was prepared we were called in and our starter and mains orders were taken. The starters came out in good time and were enjoyed by everyone. After a short wait the roasts were brought out and sadly they were not enjoyed by all. The potatoes, parsnips, stuffing and carrots were burnt. The meat however was lovely. We had one person that didnāt eat roast and was offered something from the childrenās menu which they would do as a large meal. This person chose cheeseburger. When it arrived we were very disappointed to find this was also burnt/cremated! We called the waitress over and she was lovely!! Very apologetic and quickly got this changed. However, the second burger didnāt look very appetising, it seemed they were this time too scared they may burn it so didnāt leave it to cook long enough. We also made her aware of the issues with the roasts and she did offer to sort this but we said no due to the hassles of sending all foods back and hanging about even longer when many of us didnāt have the time. All in all a very disappointing meal!! When the bill was brought out the waitress had taken off the price of a full roast and the childs menu meal. We payed, not wanting to complain further as some members of the party already felt uncomfortable enough. A Ā£10 tip was given to the waitress and we only hope that was able to go straight in her pocket as she was very good at her job and we hope we didnāt make her feel uncomfortable in any way as none of it was her fault. So the two stars are for this establishment but I would give the waitress...

The White Horse Pub in Hawkinge is an absolute gem, and my recent experience there was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warmth and professionalism by Abby, who provided exceptional service throughout my visit.
Let's talk about the food - an absolute culinary delight crafted by the talented chef, Keyleigh. The garlic and chili prawn on sourdough starter was a burst of flavors that tantalized my taste buds, setting the perfect tone for the meal ahead. The beef and Guinness suet pie with triple cooked chips, accompanied by gravy and vegetables, was a hearty masterpiece. Each bite was filled with rich, comforting flavors that left me wanting more. And let's not forget the grand finale - the banoffee pie dessert was a divine indulgence that rounded off the meal perfectly.
The ambiance of the pub was inviting, with a well-presented interior that exuded charm and character. It provided the ideal backdrop for a memorable dining experience. What's more, the value for money was exceptional, considering the quality and quantity of the food served.
In summary, the White Horse Pub in Hawkinge is a must-visit for anyone seeking a combination of top-notch service, delectable food, and cozy ambiance. With Abby's professionalism and Keyleigh's culinary expertise, it's an experience that promises to delight all the senses.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreMyself and the wife have just visited this pub and couldnāt recommend it enough, warm, inviting and accommodating. I phoned them up this morning and spoke to a very friendly and helpful man who turned out to be the landlord to ask if they accepted dogs, of which they do. We have recently purchased a motorhome and were staying 2 miles up the road at a local site and this was the only place close by. When we arrived we were greeted with very friendly staff and locals. We were then given a lovely table by the fire where two very tired dogs vegged out and we enjoyed one of the nicest freshly cooked meals Iāve had for a long time. Although it was 2 miles from the site and it took us 35 mins to walk it was well worth it and would defiantly go back again. Also, I want to add that a lovely lady called Niki arranged a taxi for us as one of our dogs decided she didnāt want to walk back, believe me Iāve asked this before at other pubs and the amount of unhelpful people in this world wouldnāt surprise you but not here, she was brilliant.
