Me and my family came for my 30th birthday celebrations yesterday evening as we had heard good hearsay of this place and the reviews we have read has been brilliant. We were very disappointed from start to finish. The service was very slow, we were originally placed on a table where there was no room for us to move and practically on top of other customers. We eventually recieved our drinks upon ordering just under an hour when ordering them in the first place upon arriving. What we could gather was that the place was over booked and therefore there was no room and seemed to be very unorganised. We eventually got moved to another table where there was room. Our food eventually arrived well over an hour when we ordered it first. I myself had the sea bass which was quite nice in all fairness, my mother-in-law had steak and that was well undercooked and had to be sent back to be re-cooked due to being unable to eat it as very chewy. My father-in-law had a mixed grill which cost us £19 pound and to be honest was very disappointed in it. Half the ingredients on there was missing and the meat was very tough. Was not worth the money. My nan also had a steak and hers seem to be edible and pleasant. On the other hand my partner had a doubled up on the burger and half way through eating one of the burgers he noticed it was not cooked at all in the middle. It was raw! So over all our experience here was very disappointing and my 30th was spoilt to a certain extent. One thing I will say is the young women who was dealing with our complaints was very apologetic and very pleasant and sympathised with us. There was also another young waiter helping us and he was very pleasant and apologetic too. What I can say is the managerial skills of this place is not very professional and when we asked to see the manager he was nowhere to be seen! Also I'm not sure if the chef was very stressed and under pressure but still it's no excuse for under cooking food or not cooking it at all. I'd expect our food to be up to the expectation it is reviewed at but it was not and especially waiting all that time for it, you would think it would have been cooked properly and nothing missing. Hope this establishment can learn from there mistakes and improve on them as they do have the potential to be a well runned...
Read moreGutted to give this place 1 star as the food was lovely and the staff excellent, however.... Whilst playing in the wonderful garden with my son I noticed a stream at the back. I had no idea it was there and there is quite a sharp drop. If a child was to fall in there it would be extremely difficult for them to get out (let alone of they smashed their heads on one of the many rocks).
I felt I should let the landlord know my concerns as it is clearly a danger for children especially if the parents are not aware of the danger (I was 10 feet away and had no idea it was there) It would take a second for a child to fall in there and the parents would not have a clue.
Now here is the the reason for 1 star...I told the landlord he had a lovely pub however I felt I had to share my concern regarding the hidden stream at the back of the garden and that maybe some signage or even better a fence should be in place and the response was "we have been wrestling with the idea and the council advised us that if we put a fence there we would be liable should anything happen". I thought the response was appalling, God forbid that anything should happen! Ignorance is no response when it comes to the safety of your customers. I'm hoping by putting this on here it will make people aware of the stream and the lack of concern for welfare by the landlord. Mr landlord please prove me wrong and do...
Read moreIan and team have managed to deliver what I and my wife were looking for during our visit to this charming pub!
We were on a short getaway from London for a chilled couple of days in the countryside. Due to the weather, we decided it might be best to find a nice place for a bite to eat. The first pub we went to - although really nice - they didn’t do food and they recommended we try out The Miners Arms! Of course when a pub recommends another pub for its food, that’s saying something, doesn’t it?
Ian and his wife have a lovely story behind this pub and we really enjoyed our experience there. The food was spot on - only tiny, tiny issue was that we wanted to have Val’s Apple Pie (a must try!), with custard and cream, but the team by mistake brought it with ice cream and cream…and charged extra for it…but apart from this small issue everything else was just superb!
I had Lamb Shanks (the most succulent lamb shank I have had in a long time!) and my wife had Chicken Burger which was good.
Highly recommended...
