The Rising Sun — Restaurant in Forest of Dean

We visited in the summer for the first time, we live just down the road (Lydney), as a couple with my partner’s daughter, we came to The Rising Sun in May.. we had a roast dinner and sat outside, it was absolutely wonderful! My partner’s birthday is in August, so we returned with my mum and step-dad , once again, sublime all around! We’ve just returned from our third visit, my partner & I. The staff (Becks), front of house, amazing, thank you! The food, superb! The ambience, matches the food and service, 5*.. locals, friendly.. the pub is dog friendly which is also a joy! Great little country village pub. Went for lunch and on request had gluten free options available on menu (they just haven’t updated menu to reflect this so doesn’t come up on a search). I had GF fish and chips. Others in party without dietary requirements enjoyed food also. Would like to have seen more beer selection (including a GF option!), so just 4 stars - but this is because of personal preference. Simple, tasty pub food with very friendly customer service. Had the best Sunday lunch here a few weeks ago (I’ve been too busy to post) I’m really fussy when it comes to eating Sunday lunch out but we definitely had an outstanding meal this will definitely be our to Sunday lunch go to from now on and we don’t even have to travel too far !
