From the moment we walked through the front door we were made to feel welcome. The dining room is warm and cozy, the decor eclectic. With a choice of two menus, the bar or specials there was plenty of choice. The bar menu giving you the option to reduce your per head spend. We all opted for dishes from the specials menu!! We are a family that loves our food. Every dish was beautifully presented, well proportioned and delicious. I can whole heartedly recommend the goats cheese and pesto beignets to start and if you have a big appetite the ribeye surf and turf. There was a great choice of gluten free or gluten free adaptable options and with no gluten contamination in the fryers we could all share the fries. We only managed one dessert between six of us and were delighted with the lemon sorbet presented inside a frozen lemon. The staff were all knowledgeable and willing to help with menu suggestions, and adjustments to suit dietary requirements. Nothing was too much trouble. If you are not in the area it is worth going out of your way to...
Read moreWhat a gem! We were staying in the local area and had been told about this restaurant but didn’t look it up first and stupidly didn’t book! It was busy, however, we weren’t turned away we were offered the garden which we took as it was a nice evening. The menus looked a little pricey but we were hungry and when the food arrived it was clear this was going to be an excellent meal. Thoughtful staff then came out to let us know that a table had become free inside as it was getting chilly so we had our main course inside. I think this was one of the best meals we have ever had at a pub. The menu was not large but this often means the food will be better and it was absolutely superb and worth every penny we paid. Portion sizes perfect. The service was second to none and they didn’t automatically slap on a service charge, but we added one of course. Atmosphere was great and staff were friendly and worked so hard. Please do book a table you won’t be...
Read moreBooked a table of 8 for my mums 60th birthday. Welcoming initially and attentive to table. I ordered a vegetarian dish which unfortunately had two small bits of meat in it. I flagged this up to staff who became very defensive stating that this 100% did not happen in their kitchen and it must of happened at the table. I was very calm and not aggressive atall. There was no offer to remove the meal from the bill (I didn’t eat half of it) and when I asked if this would be possible due to the situation was simply told ‘No’ and again told that it must of been our fault at the table. The chef also appeared as we were leaving and again stated that it was not his fault and that sometimes vegetables can be chewy so perhaps it was that. I felt very disappointed and hurt in this whole situation (I rarely complain about anything!). Honestly - the worst customer service I think I’ve ever come across in a pub. Would...
