I had lunch at this establishment with two friends and we were all extremely disappointed One friend had a pork terine starter which was supposed to come with toasted bread but they were more like 3 small crackers that she found really difficult to eat as they were so solid hard she was worried they may break a tooth I had pork loin roast dinner and my other friend HDD turkey roast dinner. When the two dinners arrived it was like dll the vegetables had been thrown on the plate. So cabbage had carrots over the top along with broccoli and the tiniest roast potatoes which were like bullets as they were so hard. I had 2 tiny slices of pork and crackling they was completely inedible unless you wanted to lose your teeth. The meat was very dry and nothing was separate on the plate just all thrown together and my friends turkey dinner was exactly the same.the only decent thing in the plate were the Yorkshire puddings. A member of staff asked if everything was ok and I said not really and explained that it was very unsatisfactory the said she would tell the kitchen staff. Plus when we did our meals they arrived I would say 3 minutes later at the table we were astonished that these could be cooked and brought to us in this timeframe. Plus when we arrived we had only been in there 5-10 mins and had ordered drinks and waitress kept coming over to ask us if we were ready to order and we asked for a little time as we just wanted a quick catch up before we ordered but she proceeded to come back a few minutes later to ask us again so we kindly said please can you give us a little longer. The Sunday lunch was £16 and was very disappointing in fact I left half of mine and my friend also left some of hers and the portion sizes were extremely small. What annoyed us more than anything was the fact that we were asked by a second member of staff if everything had been ok and when we told them not one person apologised or sent anyone over to find out what the problems were, really poor customer service and we will definitely not be back or recommending this place to...

Breakfast was lovely, you order off the menu and it's cooked fresh, plenty of tea and coffee plus juice and water available too, continental breakfast is good with plenty of cereal, the odd amount of pastries and bread for toast with preserves.
Drinks are slightly higher priced compared to Derbyshire however happy to pay as was away, and only max 50p more.
We ordered food in the restaurant Sunday night which I can't lie, it's probably some of the best food I've eaten in a pub In a long time, I had the Duo of chicken for mains and garden patch medley for starter (I don't like houmous normally but honestly try it you won't regret it)
The staff couldn't do enough to help, they even gave us our own area for the meal on the Sunday night, the 2 guys (one long hair on the bar, and the ginger guy on reception Saturday was lovely, didn't catch names, also the lady who I'm assuming is the manager (had a pride lanyard on) was very friendly and very helpful, I took my own almond milk as I can't have normal dairy, I left it behind on the first breakfast and she put it in the fridge for safe keeping and let me leave it there for the remainder of the stay which was nice.
It's only 35 minutes on the bus into Newcastle, the bus runs hourly daily and stops at the end of the road (28B/29)
My only recommendations would be 1- Milk alternatives (skimmed/Almond) alot of people don't like full fat milk, and unfortunately that was the only option. 2- Proper butter (Lurpak) 3- More brown bread (Wasn't any left on Monday morning, which is disappointing but I understand these things happen. 4- Better and more cider selection on the bar (old mout) and maybe some cocktails?
Definitely will be returning with my partner at a later date, and will definitely be recommending to friends who visit the north east area 10/10...
Read moreThe place was around 5% full when we arrived, there was nobody there to greet or take us to a table nor a clear sign asking us to wait to be seated, so we took a seat at one of the many free tables in the restaurant. We then went up to the bar to order drinks and ask for the food menu only to be told ‘the restaurant is really busy tonight so you will have to sit in the bar area if you want to order food’. So we moved tables and ordered our soft drinks on the way. I ordered the food and paid then went to sit down at our newly located bar table. Within 10 mins our food had been served and it took another 10/15 for us to finish and get ready to leave. We would have stayed for a coffee and dessert however it was patently obvious that the restaurant wasn’t busy at all (still about 80% availability) and they had moved us for no reason whatsoever, so we didn’t feel welcome at all. While we sat waiting for the food to arrive we checked the online booking system and there was plenty open and available time slots for while we were there and for the hour or so afterwards, so again obvious the staff had just not wanted us in the restaurant area at all. It’s not clear why we were singled out to move into the bar, considering there were some tables being used in the restaurant area already, however it was totally unnecessary and the whole experience then fell short of our expectations. We usually go to the Ravensworth for food regularly however, needless to say it’s the last time we will visit. On our way out we noticed that another family were receiving the same information from the staff about the apparently busy restaurant however the staff were more than obliging when the family expressed dissatisfaction and found them a table quite quickly.
The food was actually very nice, but we...
