Updated review I have been visiting The Ferry Boat Inn for over a year now. It is one of my regular stops when I'm traveling around the UK. The pub is situated on the banks of the River Trent giving great views of the surrounding countryside, passing narrow boats 🛶 and wildlife 🐦 The pub has outdoor seating at the front and rear enabeling you to take advantage of the picturesque surroundings. The interior is cosy and welcoming like a traditional English pub. The staff are exceptional on every visit. Warm and curtious. The food is good, well priced and served promptly. On the odd occasion something has gone wrong they were apologetic and rectified it without hesitation. I believe without the current staff .. Courtney, Tom, Francis etc.. the pub would loose its warm, friendly edge it has over other pubs in the area. It's a great pub, in a wonderful location with exceptional staff. I bet they smile upon seeing you! 👀 I'll will keep coming back.. if only for the great cider selection Courtney sources! Thanks to the Team at The Ferry Boat Inn, Baz

Use to go to this pub a lot, but haven't been for a while, and was disappointed to find the quality of the venue had gone down. Me, my wife and our two children waited nearly an hour for our food, and we were not told of any delays when we ordered. When the food arrived there were items missing and the server only brought two sets of cutlery, even though he had brought four meals (this took a while to get sorted) and the presentation of my meal left a lot to be desired. There were various tables when we arrived with dishes and food leftovers, and they were still there almost two hours later when we had finished our food. I've given two stars as the food itself was ok they just need to improve everywhere else.

Went here yesterday for breakfast and was pleased to see that the recent changes to decor had made a such a vast imporovemnet to the overall feel of the place. It was clean, warm and the festive feeling had already hit. The breakfast was brilliant, much better than anticipated for a chain resturant so was pleasantly surprised value for money is great. One of our servers unsure of her name was friendly and appeared to be genuinely interested in making sure all was ok. To top it off a nice little soft play for the daughter so overall was a great way to spend the morning. We will definitely be recomending and look forward to coming back to try the day time menus.

Unfortunately it's not a place I will be coming back to in a hurry. It was our first visit here and the food was very poor, most dishes were overcooked, dry and ingredients tasted old. One of our starters came with sliced carrots and o my they were wilted and dry, they looked like they had been sliced days before and left on the counter top. The app wasn't working to order food so I went to a bar where there were only two bar staff on and long queues on either side, waited in line for around 15 minutes to order food and drinks.

Floors under the tables were filthy with lots of old bit of food and tables had not been cleaned. I would have normally asked for a different table but it was very busy and a lack of tables so didn't bother.

Waited some time for our starters which is to be excepted on a busy Sunday however the staff came over 3 time to ask if we were finished even though we were still clearly eating. I can only assume this is because our mains were ready to be served? And possibly this is what lead to our food be dry and overcooked?

It the first and hopefully the last time I go out with the family and not one person ate even half of their meal. We could have complained at the time but quite frankly none of us wanted any other or more food from this place and all just wanted to leave.

Lovely location of a pub and if I was to ever to walk the dogs around this area I would happily have a drink in the beer garden but wouldn't return...

I brought my two young children to eat here last night. I have eaten here before so did know what to expect in terms of food quality, it's not the best, but it's relatively cheap. Unfortunately, the bar manager (I assume), was passive aggressive towards me when I was trying to order my meals. He could see I had two young children with me. I wanted to eat outside in the play area. All tables were unoccupied. He kept insisting I went back outside to find a table number or he wouldn't be able to put the order through. I kept reiterating that he could put me on any table outside as they were all free and I didn't mind which. This went around a few times, he was clearly not wanting to be helpful and had a poor attitude. In the end, he gave in and allocated a table number but told me I was risking not getting my food order. The table number he gave me did not actually exist when I went to find it. I then asked to order a roast, to which his response was "sold out sorry". I asked for a similar alternative to which he said he had nothing similar. I asked if he had any pasta dishes to which he said no. I ended up ordering something I didn't particularly want and it came out dry and overcooked. The female bar staff, waiters and waitresses were all very helpful and friendly. Overall, a negative experience. If my children hadn't needed feeding I would have left without ordering anything. The chap who took my order could do with some further training in...

Every time I've ever been to this pub, I've always come away thinking the food quality is truly terrible... but its a really busy pub, I always try and give it another go... last Thursday though was something different.

We didn't have our toddler with us and thought we would treat our eldest to a pub tea. So we roll up and the gentleman advised there was a 30 minute wait for drinks, and an hour wait for food. I originally put this down to staffing issues but there seemed plenty. 30 minutes to wait for drinks, in stifling heat, that's a bit harsh.

Anyway we are sat looking through the menu and I'm so glad we didn't put our order through. The table next to us were complaining about their food, no word of a lie I heard "this is overcooked", "this is undercooked", "this isn't even cooked", "I've not been able to eat this"... so I turned to my wife and said let's go somewhere else. On the way out, the amount of plates with half the food on was shocking. The concerning thing was many tables hadn't been cleaned down either, so a lot of tables had the previous clients plates on there.

I feel bad for reviewing this place so poorly, especially with the issues the pandemic has caused, but this is an honest review. I was previously a bar manager and I would never have allowed poorly cooked food to be served, or the tables to have plates on them.

Sorry ferryboat you get 1 star... such a shame as you're in a prime...
