Went with family today, the staff were really polite and friendly. The resturaunt was warm and welcoming. Everything was nice until the food was delivered. The lady at the till ordered a large fish instead of the light bite version. I had no issues with my meal however the chips were cold and undercooked, the steak was also medium rare but cold. We paid just under £60 for a meal of 5 people. However the staff member who came up to us regarding the state of the chips and steak being cold compensated us with desserts and apologised for the issue. I have had wonderful experiences prior to visiting today however I will be making this my last visit due to the experience that has occurred.

I've been a few time with the family and we haven't had one bad meal. Its advisable to book before you go but having said that we have been un announced before and got a table. The staff are very friendly and the food and beer selection good is varied. They have 2 special boards one that has everyday food on the the other is fish dishes that ranges from swordfish steak to a fish platter. They also have an outside courtyard thats lovely to sit in on hots summers day. 5⭐️👍🏻 (The Cumberland fiesta in the picture comes with garden peas but I exchanged them for beans) Called in again on Sunday and had the roast beef dinner. Empty plate again and still 5⭐️'s

Had a breakfast here and will not be back the bacon was hardly cooked, sausage was cheap and cold, black pudding wasn't cooked well. Overall a really poor plate of food. No one came to ask how the food was or I would have mentioned we were not happy. We used to come a few years back and it was really nice. A shame it has gone so downhill

I am writing this review following my experience dining today at the Larch Farm Pub. We were a group of ladies out for lunch, when the waitress came over and loudly and rudely advised me that I could not bring my own food for my 18 month old granddaughter (a small packed lunch) whilst my friends and I dined in the restaurant.

I explained that I could not warrant purchasing a full children’s meal as my granddaughter is only 18 months old and I found the children’s menu consisted mainly of fried less healthy options or pasta , which are more suited to older children, and therefore she wouldn’t have eaten it. I didn’t advise the waitress that my granddaughter has in fact got several food intolerances as I felt it would have been of no interest to her or her manager . A more acceptable approach would’ve been to have quietly spoken with me at the end of the meal and told me that the company policy is that a children’s meal must be purchased once a child is eating solid food and that they had allowed it on this occasion as they know that I and my friends eat there on a regular basis but then I would know for the future. I do accept that the business would suffer if everyone with children , brought they own lunch, but for such a young child there should be some reasonableness used. Most parents would also agree, a toddler of this age can be particularly ‘picky’ !

This particular waitress is aware, I have dined with any one of my grandchildren , who would have been under 2 , regularly with my 8 friends, however this is the first occasion that it has been mentioned, I therefore would have expected to be treated with better customer service. I asked if I was able to continue feeding my granddaughter and she said she would have to check with the manager. I also asked to speak with the manager who the waitress said was not there but had in fact been watching us on the CCTV.

I did advise that I would be writing a negative review on the review platforms as to the way the situation was handled and she said that was ‘up to me ‘ and they get lots of reviews good and bad’. I felt that customer service was not of any particular importance to them.

There are lots of good pubs and restaurants and cafés to choose from locally and although we’ve always been happy with the food I will be voting with my feet and going elsewhere. It’s unlikely that the Larch Farm will be affected by the loss of eight regular customers, but I hope that this review will be useful to other grandparents or parents dining with very...

NOT FRESH FISH!!!! Why even bother to lie to people about “FRESH FISH”? When they serve you slimy, taste old fish.

Husband surprised me on our anniversary YESTERDAY! Jan 20. He booked a BnB which is I’m so looking forward because I love fish and been eating fish my whole life as my father is fisherman. We arrived at the Larch Farm with friendly staff, let us sit in our table but left us just like that, we have waiting 15 minutes and no one asking us anything, until I got bored and asked the staff, they didn’t even explain that we have to go to bar to order foods and drinks (what a joke!) it’s not even busy!

I’ve ordered larch farm sharing which is all deep fry chicken nuggets are great but the rest is like (finger food shop bought nothing special)

Husband ordered sweet Chili sauce fish and salsa (not salsa at all!) it was plain salad with little bit dressing on top! Is arrive with half fish which have shop bought sweet Chili sauce on top, the fish is slimy and taste horrible but since we are so hungry and shops are quite far we’ve eaten it with feeling bad and hard to swallow, it comes with OLD dry plain boiled potato and when we cut it it’s quiet dark inside (so it’s obvious it has been reheated many times or old) So we asked why it’s not potato wedges as it said in the menu, so the potato wedge arrive but we couldn’t eat it anymore as we lose appetite

I’ve ordered fish and seafoods platter (as they said they serve FRESH FISH) so I expected its fresh! But no! It was from FROZEN! Other fish are like old and chewy and some are like AGAIN already made shop bought, the smoke fish was dry, the filo prawns bland and some fish smells funny, no one even ask how’s our food until time to clear our table so we explained our fish isn’t fresh at all and the staff just said “sorry about that” so that’s it? Lucky it’s our anniversary and we don’t want to ruin our night ,

We booked breakfast but we decided to cancel it as we don’t want to expect it will be serve fresh aswell

The room it’s clean but it’s FREEZING COLD! Heater are on but not enough, the room has book few days before our arrival so it should be nice if they made a little bit of effort to heat the room before we arrive but instead we slept in cold room and no proper sleep at all!

We will not recommend this place and we will not be coming back! Unless they change their Chef.

Disgraceful amount for this...

Me and a friend called yesterday for lunch. My friend had never been before and I hadn't been for 15 years so thought we'd give it a try as it always looks busy. I had booked a table for 2 and we went to the bar and was shown to our table, then asked to come to the bar when we was ready to order. There was a lot of choice on the menu and more choices at the bar area. Whilst placing our order we noticed a couple had taken our table. We notified a member of staff who then seated us at a different table. I ordered the cajun salmon with spicy rice and salad. My friend ordered braising steak with mash and peas. My salmon and rice was over-cooked to the point of it disintegrating as soon as it went in my mouth. The 'spicy rice' was just over boiled rice with some salsa thrown in (I don't even like salsa). The salad could have been better presented with real lettuce leaves, not the horrible spikey leaf ones with the 2 inch wide stalk. My friend said her braising steak was nice but the mash potato wasn't real potatoes and it tasted like the instant stuff. It arrived in a bowl which was swimming with gravy. I know most people like extra gravy but that was a bit too much. Overall, the restaurant is beautiful and quirky with lots of characteristic features. The staff were friendly but would be nice if they wore a uniform. The only way we could tell who were staff was because how young they were. Also they need to be more efficient when answering phone calls or replying to messages with booking enquiries. Some looked smart and some didn't. Most of the clientele were over 60. Not sure if this is all the time or because it was a Thursday lunchtime. The food however was a big let down and no better then what you would be served in your local wetherspoons only the prices at Wetherspoons reflect the food served. I'd visit again for drinks but not food. I'm glad to have sampled it because I was planning to take my mum for her birthday but I think we'll try somewhere else. Once the standard of food reflects the prices they charge then this could be a lovely restaurant. Also it smelled really strongly of wet dog near the toilets. Thankfully we wasn't seated there but on the way to the toilets on the way out the smell of dog was...
