It is only a DreamIt is only a Dream
A great atmosphere, comfortabe seating and pleasant decor. Well maintained and not overly modernised like some of the pup chains. The staff are friendly, helpful and welcoming. The many tables are well separated, and as well as spacious parts there are more intimate littler nooks too. The menu is varied, the food is tasty and great value. There's an extensive range of beers, wines and spirits at, plus teas, coffees and fruit juices, soft drinks etc. all at reasonable prices. Altogether a very pleasant experience. There is a function room available, but smaller private parties can be accomodated in the more intimate nooks of the public area. My wife and I have booked a nook for 23 people where we will celebrate with drinks and one of the three varied buffet menus offered for such functions. Looking forward to it.

I went for a Christmas special meal and the chicken starter was pure salt. The beef roast dinner, I couldn't eat any of it. The veg was too tough and the pigs in blankets were underdone. My friends had turkey which came with roast potaotes but the beef (which is what i had) came with mashed potatoe, which doesnt make much sense. It seems like they're trying to make the food something it's not. Last years menu and food was much better. It may have been pub grub but it definitely tasted a lot nicer, you got your money's worth and the menu made much more sense. The dessert which was a brownie came cold and they gave me one measly little bit of whipped cream, it definitely wasn't worth the money that it costs and I probably wouldn't come again.

I ordered the trio of roasts via Deliveroo and I’m honestly shocked that this was even sent out. For £19, what I received looked like scraps off someone else’s plate. There was no beef in sight, the gammon and turkey were rock solid—like they’d been left out all day—and everything was stone cold. The portion of vegetables was tiny, and the entire meal was completely unappetising. It’s disgusting that anyone thought this was acceptable to serve, let alone charge nearly £20 for. I would never recommend this place to anyone. An absolute disgrace.

Considering this was supposed to be a private function booked a while ago, I have got to say I was astounded with the lack of service. The food was brought up through the pub and eventually arrived at the tables in no particular order, colder than you could imagine. There is no point in telling them how you want your steak cooking, they obviously don't know the difference between medium rare and well done. One of the ladies at our table who asked for the steak to be well done was gagging whilst struggling to eat a blood dripping steak. When I told the two managers neither of them approached the table to apologise or ask how they could put things right. I only hope nobody ends up with food poisoning. The cranberry sauce had to be requested and arrived when most people had finished their Christmas dinner. There was no salt or pepper on the tables, I had to go to the bar to get some. There were people sitting at the tables waiting for their meal whilst others on the same table had near enough finished before they got theirs. They never once asked if everything was all right. We were told when we made the booking that there would be extra staff to serve the food and the upstairs kitchen would be used - that never happened. Can I strongly recommended that you look for somewhere else to enjoy your Christmas Day meal if you don't want your day ruined. The management's only response was to offer a complimentary drink. The only saving grace was Mitchell who was serving behind the bar,who tried his very best to help, even coming out to serve food to try to speed things up. Perhaps the management should take a leaf out of his book and make him the manager as he was the only one that seemed to care about the quality of service he was providing. I have more chance of winning the Lottery than stepping into this pub again. The evening was full of important people and I would like to take the opportunity to apologise on behalf of our club for the poor quality of service and food they were...

It was appalling to be frank from start to finish, the manager/supervisor she was not very nice & it said show your voucher before ordering so the first thing she said was if this voucher doesn’t work then you’re going to pay full price & all I said was check the voucher first before you start telling me I’m not the manager I’m the supervisor so she said to one of her young employees I Carn’t serve them so a young chap took my order for 4 Sunday roast plus drinks so we went and sat down & waited for our lunch, 35 minutes passed & the dishes came out. The first thing I noticed were the carrots all dry going white & dehydrated the parsnips were all soft and I could tell the food has been microwaved so I asked the young server if they were put in the microwave, she came back with the answer of All the food is prepared in the morning & put in the microwave to reheat. I said I’m not satisfied with the quality of my food could I have a refund & another young employee stated that if you start eating your food then you could not have a refund so I explained to him you need to try first before you can make a decision so he took my meal away & come back with a refund for the dinner & another thing was the bottle of ketchup on the table had lot of old sauce around the top was really glued up & when I showed this to them for a different bottle of ketchup they said there’s nothing wrong with it and walked away bearing in mind he had a new bottle in his hand at the same time. Was a total bad experience I tried to explain to a couple of young employees that when the manager/supervisor is unhappy it goes down the chain & everyone is going to be unhappy which most of them were. I don’t blame any of the young employees but the lady in charge was running the whole pub down which was sad to see. Thank you for the voucher & I will definitely try another one of your chains but not that one. Thank you for being so helpful...

This is the third mothers day we have visited as a large group and each time have had nice food and great service. Needless to say we were all looking forward to it. I hate to say it but we were extremely disappointed. To start with, the bar service was shockingly slow. 2 members of staff on the bar when it's mother's day and I'm guessing a bit busier day than usual? Surely staff could have been planned a bit better, it's not like mothers day suddenly happened! Or at least have the staff apologise for a long wait or acknowledge you in some way. Then there was the food service. We waited ages after the starters for the table to be cleared. We had to get up to find a staff member as there weren't any visible. Then when the meals came out 7 came out together, then again, we waited. Ten mins before I had to yet again get up to ask where the meals where. It's not on, you expect the meals to all come out together. Then there were items missing off the meal and one thing which wasn't available but we weren't told about when we ordered. Some of the puddings had been ordered when we paid for the meals and still we waited 30 mins and took two times to ask before they came out. Overall we were very disappointed with the amount of waiting we had to do and when you've got young children in the party it's not always that easy to keep them occupied. We heard other families saying the same so I'm sure we won't be the first to complain. Poorly managed or short staffed? Either way a very disappointing...
