I dont usually write reviews but I feel I have to for the Pike and Musket. I eat here quite often, probably about 10 times in the last year and a half. Out of those visits I have only received my meal as it should be once. This morning I was short of a rasher of bacon on my breakfast. Last time I was missing bacon from my burger and my friend received the tennesse steak instead of the macarony cheese steak. The time before that onion rings were missing from my steak dish. A previous time when I went with a group someone added crispy bacon to their burger, this came out in the wrong persons burger. When I was with my girlfriend once she ordered sweet chilli prawns, the prawns came out plain. That is only the mistakes I can remember off the top of my head. Several times I have received steak well done when I have asked for medium rare. Usually they rectify the mistakes quickly but it is annoying having to go back to the bar to complain after receiving every meal especially if it is busy as by the time I have spoken to someone my food has gone cold. The gents toilets are a disgrace there has been a flood in there for the last I dont know how many years. The restaurant is not clean to a standard I would expect a restaurant to be. Cobwebs dust and traces of food/drink on the walls and ceiling. Despite this the Pike and Musket is usually busy. Probably because unfortunately there is no competition near by. So it is as if they are more interested in profit than providing the community with the best service it could. The food is actually quite nice which is why I have given 2 stars instead of 1. If these issues were sorted which they easily could be with little time or expence it would easily be a 4 or 5 star rating from me. The food is reasonably priced but for the standard of service they are providing it should be a...
Read moreI went yesterday with my sister and elderly mother. The bar staff was new and really didn’t know what she was doing and left to their own devices. The waitress was pleasant but nervous and had no idea where our reserved table was. Everything we asked her resulted in her going off to ask someone as she didn’t know what she was doing. We asked for a pint of Diet Coke and got a half. When we queried this, the staff/management were rude, cold and frosty saying “that’s the only size we do” before walking away. My sister’s meal came with rice or chips. She ordered the rice and from the side orders menu, a side salad. The rice was not on her dish. When we asked the waitress she went away several times before saying that my sister had ordered the side salad instead. My sister explained that the salad wasn’t an option on the menu, only the rice or chips and that she had ordered the rice and a salad from the side order menu. The waitress went off again then returned to ask my sister to leave her half eaten food and queue at the bar to PAY for a portion of rice before they would bring it out?!!! My sister refused as her meal was already going cold and it was their mistake not hers so as a good will gesture they should just bring the rice out? The waitress had no idea what to do so we asked if she could get the manager. We watched her go off and talk to the manager’s sister/acting manager and then walk away. We were simply ignored from there in. No one came over to talk to us and no rice was given. Our request to talk to the manager was simply brushed off. Disgusting and unprofessional behaviour. It’s such a shame because all of the food was lovely but the service...
Read moreI’ve been coming to the pike and musket for 10-15 years and Ive never had a complaint but tonight was the worse experience by far, I don’t believe this reflects on the staff in the pub as you could see they were trying their best but were far too stressed and busy, the cook has been there for a quite a while now and have never had a bad meal before. There were 2 relatively new members of staff which you could see were struggling but I don’t think this was there fault, we had only seen 3 members of staff tonight, the Cook plus one person on food and one person on drinks and for a pub of its size was not enough, I don’t think it’s fair on either the staff or the customers to open a pub/restaurant on this little staff. Simple requests were missed but this was because everything was rushed due to being so busy, I genuinely do not blame the staff tonight as we have had so many good meals and can’t fault them but it was a poor management decision to open the pub tonight and put their staff under that much pressure, at the very least close the kitchen, I hope the right people in charge see this. I initially gave a 1 star review however changed this as I don’t believe it is a fair reflection...
