We booked a table for 6 people, online for 19.30-22.00 on a Saturday night. We were held up slightly as we were waiting for one of our party to finish her shift at Singleton Hospital, and the road was very dark and with little or no pavement through the village so it took longer than expected to walk there.

On arrival, just before 8pm we were greeted by a smartly dressed staff member (possibly the duty manager) who asked if we had booked. We replied yes, and before we could apologise for being late he snapped "You are late. The kitchen closes at 8pm". We replied that we had just discovered that as we walked into the car park, but that it wasn't mentioned anywhere on the website when we booked that afternoon. He grudgingly said that he would ask the chef to stay on and cook for us, but he couldn't promise anything. As it turned out the chef was willing and we were hurried to the table. There were 3 possibly 4 other tables occuped in the whole of the restaurant, the rest was empty. Again we asked how we were to have known the kitchen was closing early tonight (apparently 8pm is not the norm on a Saturday night in Half Term) and were told there was a sign in the car park - useless to those of us who book online and don't drive past regularly. I will admit that his attitude really wound up our group and if there had been another option for good at this point, we may well have left without ordering.

The younger man who came to take our order was, in contrast, courteous and polite, and apologetic for the large number of dishes that were not available on the menu due to Covid/Brexit issues. He quickly and professionally took out order (including the one for the nurse who was held up in work and had not yet arrived as we didn't want to hold the chef up any more).

The food was very fast to arrive, prompting queries within the group of the use of the microwave. The chips were delicious. The peas were warm, but not hot. The steak was overcooked which was a surprise based on the speed of the service.

At no point did anyone ask if the food/service was ok, or query the untouched dinner getting cold on the table for our friend, and unsurprisingly we were not offered dessert (which in fairness we wouldn't have taken at this point). The staff also started to clear the dishes before we had all finished.

All in all, not an experience I would recommend.

I have given the pub 2 stars because we were late, and the chef&server seemed to be polite (not so the...

Normally I would give this place 4 or 5 stars, but on my most recent visit there with my friend, I was deeply disappointed with the quality and taste of the fish and chips that I had bought. The fish was very unpleasant to eat, the taste fluctuated between no taste and an unpleasant taste, and the batter was too oily. The chips were nice enough, but simply too many of them, and the peas were so small in size and portion, that they were almost non existent. I love a good amount of vegetables with a meal, and sadly this establishment does not offer much in the way of fresh vegetables with a meal or as an additional side dish for that matter, but I was at least expecting that I would have been given a healthy serving of peas - this was not the case at all.

My friend, who is not one to complain about things, told me afterwards that he thought it was disgusting that when I complained about my fish, that I was not offered another dish in its place or a refund. Instead all I was offered was a drink, which I felt forced into having, since I rarely drink alcohol, and a soft drink would have not made up for the price of the meal at all. When the drink came over, I found it far too strong for me, it seemed like maybe they’d given me a double shot, so I could barely drink it, and had to leave most of it.

Last year when I had an issue with a dish that I ordered at there, the service was brilliant! They asked what else I would like instead, and brought me a much better dish, but last night I was just told sorry I can only offer you a drink as a replacement, which I think was awful - a drink is not a replacement for food, and to offer it as a substitute for food is ridiculous and poor customer service!!!!

Frankly I agree with my friend, both the service and my food last night was disgraceful!!! And since I normally enjoy going to the Gower Inn, I now feel torn as to whether I ever want to go and eat there again! Which is awful because it is one of the very few places that is totally dog friendly.

I just hope that if I do go there for food again, that the service and the quality of food will go back to being as good as I remember. Until then, they get just 1...

I have been here a few times previously and had a good experience from staff, but yesterday we were in Gower and as the food and staff had previously been amazing we decided that for my mums birthday we would go there for food. We were wrong, upon arriving there were a few people in the beer garden but there was a lot of space. There was a lot of space inside as well. When we went inside to order food and drinks we were told rudely that they were only serving psople who had booked a table and nobody else, there were no signs outside or anything on website or social media. We ordered drinks as we were there, 1 pint of ale and 2 cokes. The draft coke was disgusting due to the rude greeting we had inside we didnt complain just left the transparent glasses of coke on the table, everyone else outside was eating food, there was a table next to us complaining about their food so maybe it wasnt a bad thing that we didnt have anything to eat. We left hungry and decided to just go home ( 2 hour drive ) instead of finding somewhereĺ else. I have previously reccomend this place but I wont again, twice I have been there and unruly children have been climbing on tables and running around up to my dogs and jumping in their faces parents or staff have not done anything to stop them. It was stressful for us and our dogs with the children behaving like this. I have autism and find it extremly stressful to have children running and jumping in the face of my assistance dog, as this is very stressful for them. I had to retire one of my dogs because children threstened him so much he is now scared of all children and unable to work safely if there are children around. I will be going to Gower on a walking holiday soon and will be going to Bishopton and the Gower heritage centre for food and drinks instead.

Edit to add we didnt drive 2 hours to only go to the Gower Inn we went to Whitford lighthouse and decided to go to the Gower Inn as we were not far away and had great service and food the previous times we had been, minus once when a child was running over the tops of the tables and jumping in my dogs face, and on the 28th of May 2022 when the...

Incredible Burgers, Great Atmosphere & Top Service at the Gower Inn We had an amazing time at the Gower Inn during our stay nearby — it quickly became our go-to spot. The food was brilliant, and the burgers in particular were absolutely incredible. Packed with flavour, cooked perfectly, and served with some of the best chips we’ve had in a long time — crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and properly satisfying. Perfect fuel for what we were about to take on! We were in the area to take on a 100km ultra challenge, and the Gower Inn played a big part in getting us there. The great food and warm atmosphere helped keep us going, and we’re proud to say we completed the challenge and earned our medals — powered in no small part by those burgers! The service really made the experience too. The owner and boss were both welcoming and passionate about their menu, which clearly shows in how they treat their team. We especially loved hearing about the staff tasting sessions — a brilliant way to get everyone on board and knowledgeable. Special mention to Angus, who truly went above and beyond. Friendly, professional, and just a top guy — he made us feel at home and looked after us every step of the way. He’s got a bright future ahead of him. Highly recommend stopping by the Gower Inn if you’re in the area — fantastic food, a great team, and a lovely atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back!

We brought a group of 9 on a Sunday lunch to the Gower Inn after a walk up the Three Cliffs. The Gower Inn was the perfect place to recuperate and fuel up before some long journeys home for people. The feel of the place was exactly what you’d want from nice pub dining. Also had good and clean toileting facilities. The service was great from the moment we contacted to book the table. Drinks ordered at the bar were helpfully all carried to the table. Food came quickly and the presentation and quality of food was really high and portion size was more than enough for the hungry young adults we had on our table. The menu had a good selection and leant in beautifully to its Welsh heritage. On the table people ordered various things from the menu including the Naughty Chips (which both tasted and looked incredible), The Gower Inn burger, and Faggots. Everyone expected to have food envy of other people’s orders because it all sounded great but everyone’s food was of an equal level and quantity that those fears quickly subsided for all of us. We all enjoyed reading the carnivore sharing menu…one day! The waiting staff were really helpful and friendly and the manager (possibly the owner) was a pleasure to talk to on exit, and was rightly beaming with pride. A great spot for weary feet, for conversation and good food!

We have visited for a number of years, however today was our first time eating out since March (and Covid happening!). Staff were great and really helpful, track and trace done as you enter so it can't be avoided. We felt very safe. Food was amazing as always. Only negative comment was how rude a gentleman member of staff was as we were leaving. I had asked for a receipt that hadn't been brought to the table, no big deal as we had to walk past the bar area to leave. When I asked one of the staff that has served us, the gentleman barked at us to wear a mask. I am exempt from wearing a face covering, as is my husband when required. This put a downer on our visit. I appreciate we are in trying times, but there is a polite way to ask someone if they can wear a mask, and to not assume everyone can. We will return, as the food was great and other staff were fab!
