Hickory's Smokehouse Cardiff — Restaurant in Great Britain

What a place! When the announcement came out that Hickory's was coming to Cardiff, literally down the road from where I live(!) and that it was opening soon, I booked immediately but for a week and a half after they opened, to let the hussle settle and any snagging bits sorted first, which as a result, was a good idea! Our table wasn't ready but we were 10mins early anyway. We were guided to the bar to buy a drink and enjoy the atmosphere. The server came up to let us know our table was ready, which was on time. Our drinks were placed on the servers tray and taken to the table for us. The restaurant design is lovely, exactly how I pictured it. I didn't find any issues with the lighting. The staff were BRILLIANT!! Very welcoming, friendly and attentive, and the kitchen staff...wow! We were sat right where the food was being prepared, and they did not stop the entire evening; always communicating with each other, literally worked their butts off! Then came the food...oh, my days! Free popcorn on the table while you wait. I went for the Pig 'n' Chicks and my husband had the Hog Heaven. Portion size was good - we couldn't even finish our trays(!!) and the food was so tasty!! We also had the Cherry Pie Cake for pudding. We ended up sharing because we were so stuffed, but would definitely recommend. Price-wise = yes, it is a bit pricey, but it's not a local pub and considering what you get as a whole, I thought it was worth it. As for the tip that's already placed on the bill (which I've seen a few people comment on), if you don't want to pay it, or want to give a little less - just ask for it to be taken off! However, we were quite happy to pay the tip, and we even added a bit more on because our experience of the whole evening was top. 10/10 would...

Hello everyone let me start by telling you all that I am an extremely fussy customer and I must say upon entry myself and my wife received a very warm welcome we were shown to our table and drinks order taken straight away(nothing worse than waiting 10-15 mins for a drink)The menu looked fantastic!me being a big bellied boy fancied the "go big or go home" burger, call me petty but there's two things I use to decide wether there is a decent chef in any kitchen 1 is how they cook a simple fried egg as if this isn't done right then to me little care is going into presentation of a good meal and number 2 is a good burger is only a good burger if you can pick it up with both hands and eat it without it falling completely apart as in my eyes it is no longer a burger! Not only did the burger stay completely intact from beginning to end it was one of the best burgers that I have had the joy of eating so job well done. I have booked another table and will no doubt be recommending to many others. Atmosphere is literally like being in America even the toilets are like American style. Nice to see the open kitchen with the flames.

Mac and cheese is a must have 100% bang on. Had the massive platter for two but I saw that there was a platter for one option for £40, shared it between me and my partner absolute stuffed but we have small appetite but we enjoy just trying different foods sausage absolutely insane wasn’t expecting to enjoy it but the cheese really caught me off guard inside the sausage but absolutely amazing brisket sensational The sauce on the barbecue wings honestly can’t describe it just way so good. The only downfall was the chicken thigh but you can’t put barbecue sauce on chicken thigh it would be ruined but it was so tender. Everything was literally perfect. Even the slaw was amazing. As a restaurant owner and food cater myself can’t fault this place really wish it all the best this place to describe it is like a TGI Fridays...
