Great pub, shame about the service. Really nice place, but having booked early, was disappointed it took nearly 40 minutes for our meal to arrive, once ordered. When it did arrive, not only was it someone else's meal, it was cold. Sent it back & was offered a free pudding. Our meal did then arrive, but was also cold. We ate it anyway, exhausted by the the struggle. We also noticed the glass light fitting right above our heads was broken, with exposed shards ready to fall on us, or our meals. Don't get us wrong, in no way was this the fault of the serving staff, the blame falls purely in the lap of the management, leaving only 3 members of staff in charge of such a large pub. The health & safety issue is something they seriously nee to attend to.

Went here for a Sunday roast, it was delicious. The service was a little slow that time, however when going again the service was extremely good. The staff are friendly and it’s situated in a really lovely village. Parking is brilliant although hard to get on a Sunday. They have a big menu for everyone. The only thing I could fault is the interior is a little dated and the exterior seating area did feel like it was a temporary covid seating area, maybe it was but if they are going to make it permanent they should invest it making it look more cosy. The building itself is so beautiful that it would be nice to have the decor to match

Awful experience! Terrible table service. Our bill come to £120 for myself & partner and this was the standard of our starters.. Half toasted bread and it was meant to be artisan rustic bread. More like kings mill! Hugely disappointing considering the lovely location and nice decor. Might I add the platter we ordered come separately to the olives and we had to chase them down for the bread and vinegar/oil. Also my roast dinner was warm!l They had no Yorkshire puddings! I was so hungry by this point I didn’t complain. It was alarming the fact the “chef” couldn’t whip up some yorkshires! Really disappointed with our experience!

I have always viewed this place as a very good place to eat but the last 2 out of 3 times I have been here have been a bit of a disappointment.

One poor girl was taking orders for what seemed like the whole dining area while staff at random were bringing dishes out. This meant you weren’t looked after by one person who knew what was going on but several and the one person who was consistently on the floor was always too busy with other tables to give you any service other than taking your initial order.

Trying to get any service was nigh on impossible as that one person was always busy and everyone else seemed to vanish after they had brought the food out.

After the meal we were sitting there for about 10 minutes before being asked if we wanted anything else, we asked for the desert menu and after getting it we were waiting for around 10 minutes before we were asked if we wanted anything.

At the end after sitting there with almost no drink left for probably 10 minutes again we had to ask the barman, who just happened to walk by, for the bill because we had had enough of waiting. We were given the bill promptly but then had to wait another 10 minutes before we could get the attention of the waitress to pay as she was dealing with other tables.

The card reader comes up asking to select a predetermined amount for a tip and the only way not to add a tip is to select enter a custom amount and put £0 in, you feel like you are almost forced into selecting a tip. Normally I would provide a tip but when you are prompted like this instead of being asked, the price of the courses are already high and you are left waiting around because only one person seems to actually be waitressing the whole area and didn’t do much apart from take the initial order (out of no fault of her own because she was busy dealing with everyone else) I feel slightly less inclined to do so.

It was not like there weren’t actually any staff, it just seemed badly organised, the amount of staff that were bringing dishes out and then disappearing there could have been at least one of them waitressing the area aswell.

The last time I was there about 3 months ago the service was good but the time before which was about 6 months ago was very similar to this. When you are paying the prices that are being asked for the food you expect for service to...

When the pub itself looks and feels better than the food they serve, this is when problems begin. Overall a nice place and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Now if I’m paying even though on this occasion I wasn’t, I’d expect a Sunday roast from a so called gastropub to blow my socks off and at over £20 it better. I had the Trio Roast. Disappointing the proportion of beef and pork compared to the chicken were poor and the chicken was chewy probably overcooked cooked or worse still cooked twice, the endless gravy never turned up just the portion they put on the plate, if you offer it make sure there’s a jug of it on the table, the potatoes weren’t freshly cooked but reheated from earlier that day or the previous and the flat Yorkshire puddings that I was served is a big no no. Unfortunately I’ve for this pub it’s got all the looks of a good grub pub but without the required result. Maybe a bad day, I’ve told by friends it’s good but I was very disappointed. P.S don’t bother with the billionaires fries they’re not worth the £4.95 for as cup of oven fries cover with a little Parmesan and over cooked bacon not the promised prosciutto. My reply to the management team. I will be coming back to give them a second chance and I will be ordering my steak medium rare, I only complain in person if it’s really bad then I wouldn’t return. Please get it right for everyone and not just the people who complain. It’s a Sunday roast and the most important thing on the plate except for the portion sizes of the meat are the crispy fluffy potatoes, big Yorkshire pudding and the bottomless gravy, which did not appear to be...

Went here for dinner on a Friday evening around 6pm, it wasn’t too busy when we arrived but the place had a really nice atmosphere and the staff were really friendly.

Unfortunately the food was a massive let down, I had the king prawns with chilli and feta to start but the 4 prawns were tiny. They were about the size of a 1p coin so a massive stretch to call them king prawns in my opinion, the sauce was nice but pretty expensive at £9 for what it was.

Partner had the dirty burger and again really disappointing, they had managed to burn the burger and I’m not talking a few char marks from the grill it was black on one side.

However they tried to cover it up with the cheese and sent it out anyway. We showed the server who collected the plates and she was in agreement that it was burnt. She removed the cost of a glass of wine from the bill which was fair enough and appreciated.

I had the half chicken and on the menu they offer a choice of flavouring such as BBQ, Chipotle and one other. It reads as though the chicken will come out cooked in that like you get at other restaurants. Unfortunately it was a plain half chicken with a tiny pot of sauce on the side, no more than 2 spoonfuls

They would be better off just advertising it as half a chicken & you just ask for a sauce when it arrives as I feel like it’s slightly misleading the way it is on the menu.

The staff were really nice and helpful and the place itself is really nice and could be such a great place. However the food we had was pretty poor and wouldn’t come back...
