I am a little bit angry and quite disappointed with this place. The reviews tell a very different story and perhaps set our expectations a little too high. Location is stunning, and there is definitely an opportunity to rennovate the balcony with heaters and a trellace for better ambience in Spring/Summer months. The young team of staff looking after the tables were lovely and did a good job.

The food, however, was the biggest frustration. We ordered the seafood platter, and perhaps this was our mistake. £120 - huuge plate of seafood, a slice of bread each and a small ramican of very mustardy alioli (which was actually fairly nice). Whilst the tower of seafood looked incredible, it was pretty awful to eat. The centrepiece lobster had tomalley all over the centre meat - no a biggie but definitely not very appealing to look at. The biggest problem was how dry and overcooked everything was. I'm assuming that everything is chucked into a big pot and steamed for the same amount of time. It just lacked flavour and was a real challenge to eat. We ended eating about half and leaving it. It's disappointing given the rave reviews of the place. I think if we'd order individual dishes (which looked far, far better), they may have been cooked better. Maybe it would be better to phase out the platter into stages and cook different shellfish seperately with appropriate cook times with olive oil, garlic, and parsley. Finally, I'm angry because we had to go to co-op to grab some food after paying £120 for a seafood platter that was really,...

Having heard good things about this cafe, we were excited to try it. My husband is a big seafood fan, I am not but found it had a good selection of vegetarian/meat dishes for the non-fish fan. However, we nearly didn't get to eat here due to the poor service. We walked in and waited, as stated on the 'wait here to be seated sign'. A few minutes passed, and 2 staff looked at us numerous times but didn't say anything. After asking if we just sit down we got told by a lady someone would be with us shortly to show us to a seat. So we waited, it was quiet with only 3 other tables in, the lady disappeared into the kitchen, the other one gone all together, then the first lady finally came back and showed us to a table. Ordering the food was fine, but we noticed other people arriving after us got given a jug of water for the table which we didn't even though glasses were there for it. The food itself was delicious and cannot fault it. I got the Balmoral chicken, my husband the spaghetti with clams with a side of garlic bread. The food came but we had no knives, only forks, so had to wait for those then the garlic bread came out about 5 minutes later as we were starting to wonder if we'd even get it. Overall, just found the service to be poor and the waitresses just didn't seem bothered or happy about anything. Spoilt our experience and has put us...

My husband and I have been here four times before and it's always been excellent. But this time was a total dissapointment. We had an extremely rude waitress, who spoke to my mother and I with such animosity that it was obvious she had some kind of superiority complex. My mum is brown, so maybe that's why she was irked. Who knows. But she didn't treat anyone else with the same attitude, so one has to wonder.. Either way she wasn't happy and decided to take that out on us, but after driving three hours to have lunch there I was supremely unimpressed. The cullen skink was watery and had no flavour so after complaining to the rude waitress she then proceeded to tell me that it's always been that way. We had it there before and it was always excellent but she disregarded what we said and was extremely short with me. By this time we'd barely been sat down 20 minutes. So I told her to take it back, she then told the manager, who after seeing the skink evidently agreed with us. The manager then informed me they had new chefs in the kitchen who didn't taste test before it went out. Either way, it came off our bill and the rude waitress apologised for the dish, but not her attitude. But honestly, after that experience, I don't think we'll be going back. Maybe it will be better when they open next season and they have...

If only you could rate a 0 star for service and staff. Terrible experience today at this restaurant for lunch. We had finished our mains and were the only table left in this part of the restaurant, a staff member was on break having their staff meal at the table behind us started being aggressive and extremely rude towards our table stating we were being "too loud". We were a table of 3 people having an normal decibel conversation, not to mention paying customers... This staff member contined to smash his fork against his dinner plate for the next 15minutes non stop as a protest to us having any conversation. Asolutely appalling behaviour. And after raising this to the staff serving our table, absolutely nothing was done about it... all we know he worked in the kitchen part of the restaurant and the wait staff appeared to have no authority to address the situation. Alison (the manager) was "not onsite" at the time of the incident if she is reading this review, may I suggest some staff training...? Not only did your staff onsite have no idea how to deal with this misbehaving colleague, they did not even offer to comp our dessert whilst we endured the fork being smashed against a dinner plate while we ate. Such a shame, the extremely high quality of food was ruined by terrible service and staff. A huge shame.

I had the pleasure of dining at Lochleven Seafood Café during my visit to Glencoe, and it was an absolute delight! The location of the café, tucked away in a scenic area, added to the charm of the experience. The seafood was incredibly fresh and delicious, and the variety of options on the menu was impressive. What really stood out, however, was the helpfulness of the staff. They were not only knowledgeable about the menu, but also had great tips for local tourist attractions and activities. It really added to the overall experience and made me feel welcomed as a tourist in the area. To top it off, the Arran Ice Cream was the best I've ever had, and the tablet flavor was a real treat. I would highly recommend a visit to Lochleven Seafood Café to anyone visiting Glencoe. It's a true gem in the area, with delicious food, helpful staff, and an unforgettable ice cream experience!
