First ever visit to play, having entered the 9 June 2022 Open Stableford. In short I really loved it.
There was a very friendly welcome everywhere and the course was in excellent condition. In some places the holes felt parkland, others were more heathland.
The views were great and the holes had good variety. The wind added to the challenge, as did (for our final 3 holes) a sea mist which came in quite quickly. We were told that's not uncommon, so something to be aware of particularly for green fee payers.
The Bar was clean and neat and the barman looked after us well. The breakfast rolls were £5.50 - my sausage and egg was very tasty! Not sure when they stop serving hot food in the afternoon, but sandwiches and pies were still available at 5pm though.
The Pro Shop looked well stocked and had some ball and clothing deals on. The guys in there were friendly and helpful.

Read moreAttracted by the many "Welcomes non-members" signs, I wandered into the outdoor terrace, this pm, intending to buy a drink and wait for some friends who were playing 9 holes. I had 2 dogs, on leads, well- behaved, with me...and didn't think this would be an issue, as I couldn't see a "No dogs" sign anywhere. I was called over by a mature gentleman, golf club suit and tie, who asked me "had I been invited...and by who?" I was told that I wasn't welcome and dogs were not allowed anywhere within the perimeter of the club, including the car park!...

Very well looked after and beautifully presented - the greens were one mow from perfection (but this was September!). It's challenging. 7 and 8 are long demanding par 4s, but on the back 9 there are some holes that make it worth a visit alone. Back to back par 5s are rare and these are two gems.
