A good looking pub, clean, in a nice setting. However, even though we arrived on time, our pre-booked table was not cleared from previous the guests. It then took 50 minutes for our order to be taken despite asking twice to be attended to. One of the meals was no longer available but the attending waitress came to offer alternatives and found out relative information for vegan and vegetarian options. It took a further 30-40 minutes for our food to arrive which was essentially deep fried or microwaved. When the food eventually arrived, we had no cutlery but the waiter did try his best to lighten the mood with jokes about how good he was at his job compared to everyone else. This pub is in a prime position right on the edge of a brand new housing development in Thornbury and I can’t help but think they are sitting on a gold mine. With some basic tips or general direction for the waiting staff, and an improved menu/standard of food then there is no reason this place can’t be one of the best pubs for food and drink in Bristol. Our experience wasn’t at all good, however much I wished it could be or...

If I could give this establishment (if it an even be called so) less than one star I would! My partner and I walked into the anchor inn to be immediately greeted with hostility and rude commentary. We were instantly and angrily approached by an older woman and told that food was not being served at the time and when we asked if we could wait for service she barked at us once more, proclaiming “NOT WITHOUT DRINKS!!” Begrudgingly, we ordered two soft drinks and sat at a table awaiting dinner service to start.. None of the staff acknowledged us and we received daggers from the woman behind the bar who originally spoke (yelled) to us. We sat in this outdated, run down pub for nearly 45 minutes with not so much as a pleasant glance our way!! We eventually and ultimately walked out after a (seemingly) local couple were seated and put in orders immediately after walking in, whilst we remained ignored!! If you are not a local do not bother giving this place your...

The greeting was somewhat grumpy from an older man who can only assume was the owner, gave us a filthy look on arrival(this was our 1st ever visit) seated at table that had wrong name later we was moved to correct table, the same grumpy greeter then criticised the error that was not our fault. Drinks and food order placed with lovely friendly server, no faults with food. During our visit grumpy greeter kept looking over at us and chatting to staff clearly about us. Owners dog wandering around tables being friendly to customers however the dog had clearly rolled in some muck and was smelling quite abit, raised our concerns with owner who was in total denial and allowed the dog to continue wandering around the establishment. We paid our bill quickly and left and will not be returning customers very unpleasant experience which is a shame as the...

This is a lovely pub for a weekend meal with family—one of the better spots in Thornbury. It can get a bit busy with locals, which speaks to its popularity. The staff are friendly, and the food is delicious. They offer great value weekday lunch deals (Monday to Wednesday), with two courses for just £11. I had the gammon steak, which was tasty and came in a generous portion. The cod was also delicious and similarly well-sized. The pub has a beautiful garden area that’s perfect for outdoor seating. They have a playground for kids as well. Overall, it’s a great place to enjoy quality food in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.

Wonderful afternoon tea at this lovely pub. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The sandwiches were absolutely delicious - fresh and full of flavour. The selection of cakes was excellent and good sizes. A perfect way to spend a relaxed afternoon. The pub itself has a really lovely garden with children’s play area and a good sized car park. Highly recommend booking an afternoon tea.

called in after looking for somewhere to eat. my friend has baked cod which she loved, my hubby had gammon also a winner and I had lasagne which waz very bland with to much oregano and tomato so it overpowered any other flavour. on rhe whole a decent experience. the staff were very friendly and helpful. a bit pricy on rhe Guinness zero though.
