Terrible, absolutely terrible
Absolutely appalling experience here. Stopped tonight with my son (age 6) who was desperate for the toilet and 3 members of staff completely refused to allow him to use the bathroom despite me saying we’d order food if he could use the loo first. He was literally dancing and holding himself. Apparently it’s “unhygienic”, well guys what is unhygienic is children peeing in your car park and that’s what ended up happening. He was humiliated. Shame on you. We took our business to Cafe Sixty Six a bit further down the road and bought 2 meals. I’m more than happy to buy meals if we have to stop with kids, but The Bridge was an absolute joke. Folks, if you’re travelling on A66 I strongly DO NOT recommend this place. Totally unacceptable to deny anyone, especially a child use of a toilet. The staff were so very rude and were telling me to drive 1 min down the road to the petrol station - clearly not listening when I said I was going to buy dinner, we just really needed to deal with the pressing situation of my son about to wet himself! We travel a66 regularly, I will never ever give these people our custom. Place was practically empty, I...
Read moreA lucky find! GLUTEN FREE!!
Travelling up from the Midlands to Scotland to take my daughter to uni. She gets hungry and wants to stop. I want to push on, especially as is a Ceoliac and very intolerant to any gluten cross contamination, so is hard to find places with a good range of food she can eat.
Driving past we pull in a whim and Boy! was it the right decision.
A great range of gluten free food, and our waitress seemed to really understand my daughter's dietary needs. So often she is treated as someone with a life choice rather than a medical condition - and whilst Gluten Free as a choice is a valid life option, her needs are different and include that no cross contamination of surfaces or cooking oils occur. This was no issue here!
The food was fantastic, and hers included chips (which is often cooked in oil that has been used to fry batter, so is off limits normally), and I feel reasonably priced.
I can't comment on the atmosphere as we were lunchtime visitors on a quiet day - but I will be scheduling this as a stop on our future trips.
Fully recommend for gluten...
Read moreWhile on a massive charity walk from York to Glasgow in the aim to raise funds for our Veterans at Erskine I stopped off at The Bridge. It was approximately 18degrees outside with no clouds in the sky on Mother's Sunday. I walked in and explained what I was doing and if I could shelter in the pub from the sun and heat for 10-15mins, as I was already sunburnt, and to fill up my water bottle and get a glass of water as I was walking from Stainmore to Penrith along the A66 that day. I was told they were fully booked and it was for paying customers only. I then asked for a pint of Cola and to fill up my water etc just so I could be out the sun for a few minutes. The manager told me to leave... twice. At no point was I ever rude or abrupt I was simply seeking shelter and asking for water. It is safe to say that with morals and standards that this pub has I will strongly encourage anyone to boycott - more interested in money than the welfare of another human being.
I got water from a neighboring house and I made it to Glasgow, thank you for turning...
