Parking is spacious and easy because it is adjacent to the restaurant and accessibility presents no real problems although there are the odd steps to negotiate. Seating is comfortable and spacious. The ambience is inviting, warm and friendly. Booking was easy and advisable and there is a “happy hour” when prices are very reasonable. This closes at 6.30 pm so you must have ordered by then. Three courses are available for just £18 or two courses for £15. The choice for this menu is a tad limited and you may prefer to go a la carte but the price rockets of course. I did and chose sea bass on a bed of lemon and parsley mash with carrots and asparagus. It was one of the best fish courses I have ever tasted. The skin was crispy and the gently taste of dill and other herbs was superb. My daughters went for the cheaper menu and were delighted. The fish and chips provided were delicious, the fish very fresh, the batter light and crispy and the chips first class. The Cumberland sausage was also a treat. Really tasty! They both had starters and chose the pate with freshly baked bread. They loved it. We all had desserts. The sticky toffee pudding with custard and the Chocolate Brownie were first class. The cups of coffee were large, of good quality and hot. At £2 a cup they represented excellent value. We ordered and shared a bottle of Pinot Grigio at £18. By selecting from the set menu, my daughters’ meals each came out at £18 for three courses plus £2 for coffee. So, £20 plus wine in total. Excellent food and value! Mine was only a two-course meal and came out at £25.50 plus wine. If you are on a budget just stick to the happy-hour menu. You certainly won’t be disappointed. The service was friendly, helpful and efficient. We were not rushed. All in all, a very enjoyable experience.

Well, I have to say, that overall I wasn't impressed. My wife and I just visited for a carvery (plated). The starters were monkfish tails that my wife said were beautiful however my salt and pepper plus chili mussels were lack lustre. No seasoning and I counted 2 chili flakes. The sauce (garlic and white wine) was fine. So, when the dinners arrived, we asked for extra gravy as there wasn't a lot , which then got brought and lastly and a good 5 plus minutes later, the vegetables. Now I didn't get a pic of the veg but in a bowl was cabbage, carrots, leek and parsnip slices. These were dry, shriveled and like rubber as clearly been microwaved. Also, with the main dinner, the meat was dry and looked microwaved and the roast potatoes were anemic, rubbery and cold. We had to send it all back. Even the waitress said it looked awful. Second time round was like a different meal altogether and good. This is now my second visit where we've had to send food back. For such a prestigious place, it should get it right first time. The owners/manager needs to review what's going on. Would I return. No is the answer. There are better places out there. Disappointing as this horse has run its race.

Our first time at The Copper Horse. From the outset, we were met with a pleasant welcome and taken to our table. The decor and atmosphere was lovely. The menu style seemed to be out of place, as the place was very luxury looking and the menu card, not so luxury. The menu choice was nicely varied, although we were choosing the amazingly set priced 2-3 course, which was restricted to certain choices. We ordered our food and a bottle of wine. The food was perfectly cooked and not shy on portion size. The chef clearly has great skills, as all our food was very tasty and tender were needed. The wine price was typical and was a good quality one. We were overall really pleased with everything and will definitely be going back next time we are on holiday again. Our personal thoughts, the food prices was too low, for the quantity and quality, we would have been happy to pay the full price for what we ordered and not the discounted early price. Thanks for a very enjoyable dinner. Paul & Julie

I'm not a complainer, in fact I hate complainers, but this experience has vexed me since Sunday, so much that I have woken up in the middle of the night early Tuesday morning and it's still bothering me so I have decided to write this review. I visited the Copper Horse for my husbands birthday on Sunday 7th August 2016. We were delayed in arriving at the pub and we had not eaten breakfast so were very hungry and didn't eat until about 1.30 pm. My husband had a fantastic Sunday Roast at £11 and my daughter had a child's meal, chicken with triple cooked chips £5. I opted for the goat's cheese salad with salt cooked beetroot, watercress and hazelnuts £9. My husband was served a large portion of pork and beef with very generous carrots and broccoli and a huge Yorkshire pudding and my daughter's children's meal filled her plate also. Service was excellent, however how disappointing that my meal barely constituted a starter let alone a main meal and had no watercress but instead some mixed salad leaves. There wasn't more than a slice of goat's cheese from a log broken into 6 finger nail sized knobs scattered around the plate, the beetroot consisted of not more than one beetroot from red and yellow beetroot wedges and the hazelnuts could not have been more than one crushed hazelnut. What was there was delicious, however there is no way that this could be considered even a starter, let alone a main meal, just comparing it to what my husband and daughter were served. Thankfully my husband gave me half of his carrots and my daughter shared half of her chips and gravy with me, otherwise I would have been starving. I sat there thinking maybe they have a work experience person making up the plates and they have got it wrong, maybe they have too many orders and have run out of ingredients, or maybe they just want to rip customers off. Very, very disappointed with the quantity of food, more of a taster than a main meal. Expected better from...

Gone downhill terribly compared to what it once was. Really paired back menu that is actually difficult to order off as there is so little to choose from. 19.15 and ran out of burgers! Ordered a bottle of red wine. Had to be reminded to bring it and then it was literally freezing when it came. Was told that was the last one as well and it was taken to the kitchen to warm up. Absolute amateurs. Not enough staff. Everyone running around like blue a*"'ed flies nobody knowing what anyone's doing. They tried to take my unfinished cocktail away twice! Used to be a quality, professional outfit but since COVID it has absolutely fallen off a cliff. No fish on the menu apart from fish and chips. People will get wise and stop coming. Couple behind us complained as well, as he wanted a burger as well, had to choose something he didn't want, like I had to, and he chose a steak. He said to them for £32 he'd expect the steak to be better quality and better cooked as he thought it was almost inedible. Oh, and be prepared if you complain to hear all the usual excuses. Lack of staff, new 'chef' etc etc etc. So whose fault is not ordering enough burgers and storing red wine in a fridge cold area. The owners need to stop being bone idle and get involved in this failing, embarrassment of an establishment because the current staff have no idea how to run the place and are drowning. I'm going to the Farriers from here on in. I'll pay slightly more (and I mean SLIGHTLY more because the prices are comparable but the quality of EVERYTHING from service to food, is not) for a better experience, as this is just slightly better than normal pub grub. The Farriers clearly have proper chefs. Not a kid with a deep fat fryer and...
