Many people often check guide books to find the best eateries and restaurants but none said anything about this little gem.
We booked it because we wanted to be near to Chesil Beach for Sunset and this was the closest decent place I could find .
On the way, we didn’t expect too much from the pub but had a nice surprise at the lovely location in a quiet little village.
The pub garden was pretty, well groomed and plenty of space between tables, so this is where we sat for our meal .
Staff seemed friendly… didn’t feel a bother to them , of which sometimes can happen at restaurants.
The choice of food was very nice .. fish and seafood , meat and chicken etc
The John Dory Starter was delicious but I guess slightly pricey but it’s not often you see this fish on any menu.
I had a homemade burger with chips for mains which was pretty filling but very good quality if you fancy the burger.
The bavette steak which my partner ate was also delicious , cooked medium and well seasoned.
It was a very nice meal on a sunny evening but what made it so nice was that it was unexpected !
Please try this place out if you’re in the area or going down to Chesil Beach...
Read moreDisappointed to be disappointed. Great reviews by others, so chose this pub as a family treat whilst on holiday. Food was ok, but seemed a bit pricey for what it was. My £15 pork was 'nice' but seemed more like a £10 to £12 meal & the same went for the rest. So I'd of rated at prob a 4. But the lady behind the bar spoilt it for us. Not at all friendly, very grumpy and unable to crack a smile or engage in conversation. When we were at the bar she was really rude to a couple wanting a table for 2. Pub was almost empty, but she simply said they couldn't serve them with only 1 chef on. Possibly true, but there is a way to do these things. The lady of the couple went out understandably annoyed. I'm a very forgiving person, but this lady is in the wrong trade! On the other hand the younger waitress was very nice and good with the kids, but wasn't enough to compensate! Paying £80 for a meal for 4, having just 1 drink really didn't fit with the...
Read moreBeen to this fabulous pub many times, and also before the current management took over. What a huge positive transformation and the current team should be proud of their achievements. I’m booked in for another Sunday roast tomorrow (13 Aug) and if it’s as good as the previous lunches, I’m in for another treat. Succulent ruby beef, ginormous Yorkshire pudding, trimmings, luscious gravy - wow, I’m salivating at the thought already. Staff (Jasmine is wonderful) are wonderfully attentive and affable, atmosphere is great, setting is to die for. I just can’t help but compare to the previous ownership and wonder why they didn’t do anything towards creating the current jewel that the Elm Tree currently is. Lastly, I read a negative comment that it’s all too expensive. I don’t mind paying for quality, and that’s what the Elm Tree is all about. Pure...
