The Old White Lion at Wicken — Restaurant in Great Britain

I am replying to the review posted earlier today. The couple booked a table for dinner at 7.30 on Friday evening came ordered my waitress after serving the main course checked several minutes later that all was ok to be told yes.We were asked for the bill which was taken to the table and informed no rush when you are ready please pay at the bar approx 20 minutes later the couple came to the bar again asked was everything ok informed yes they paid the bill. To then receive a phone call on Sunday lunchtime at 1.50 to complain was a surprise I reiterated the facts from Friday night and was astonished to be asked for a refund for the meal which I said no to. Very surprised at the amount of positive feedback for this place. We were very excited to try the food here being new to the village however, we were very disappointed! Don’t waste your time or money going here! The soup was obviously from a tin that I could have had at home and my steak taste so charcoaled I could hardly tell it was meat. I hardly ate my meal and yet when I called to complain I was told I would not be given a refund as I had not told them before leaving, I would have complained at the time but as it was already late and it took ages to get the bill so I decided to call a couple of days after but according to the landlord that was too late to make a complaint. The food here is just perfect and the staff are so friendly and amazing. We had a table of four for my birthday and we each ordered something different.

I had the gammon as I'd seen really good reviews and I was not disappointed! My dad has been here a few times so he always tries something new and he absolutely loves this restaurant! Mum and sis were very happy with their lamb and fish pie respectively. I'm looking forward to coming again and I think I'll try the lamb! Oh and the rustic chips... I eat chips about twice a year so I'm glad I tried these; they are beautiful!
