Booked a night on back of good reviews read for a break on way back home from long trip. Bar area appeared nice and we were actually looking forward to a few drinks in the evening. However our room was terrible and definately not up to good review standard. Carpet was shockingly bad, old and tired with black marks on it, thread bear. As the private bathroom was actually outside the bedroom on the landing the thought of having to go over the carpet in bare feet was just too much for us and not what we are accustomed to. Brown bed cover on one of the beds. A definate no no. So we just gave keys back and headed home. When home we looked into the room we were given and found out it was one which was dog friendly. This may have been why the carpet was as it is??? We called the owner to ask for a refund on basis of above facts but she refused. Shame on her. When we said we were going to do a review she said we were threatening her business. The only person threatening her business is herself as our review is the truth and not to harm a business just to let others know what we experienced and they can decide for themselves. Moral of the story never book on the back of reading good reviews. ps Aberuthven is actually 2 1/2 miles outside Auchterarder so don't expect to walk to the town **Update left a negative review on the site that i booked hotel through low and behold this...
Read moreOnly booked as a stop over, as returning to Lancashire from Orkney and wanted to break the travel.||However we could have stopped longer as it is a lovely place to stay! ||Warm welcome on arriving, shown to your room and facilities explained in a very relaxed but friendly manner.||We booked the family room with a separate bathroom which we have never done before and always had an ensuite room. As there was only 1 other room near ours it really wasn't an issue and they provided robes which was a lovely touch and to be honest it added to the adventure for our 9year old boy 😀. The room was lovely, clean and beds very comfortable.||The food for breakfast and evening meal was delicious! ||Cooked breakfast was lush and not greasy, 9yr old enjoyed the pancakes, bacon and maple syrup and the service was again relaxed, friendly and couldn't do more for you.||The evening meal was lush - we stayed on burger night, the main menu was still available as well. All starters were yummy but for me the burger was amazing. I wouldn't normally choose a burger but I'm glad I did - the pork and black pudding pattie was yummy with apple slaw - has to be the best burger I've ever had! ||Thanks again for a...

The booking was easy and communication prior to our stay was easy and quick through the app. ||We were met by Niki who welcomed us as we entered the bar, and explained where the best place to park was (round the rear of the property). She then showed us to our room and gave us details for breakfast the following morning. ||We had a twin room , with comfy beds, a decent shower and had good nights sleep. ||We enjoyed the evening in the restaurant / bar area , enjoying many pints of Ossian and starters of soup , and a seriously nice Cullen Skink . Mains of burgers and Scampi were also good . Service from Rich and Niki was really friendly and swift. All the people in the bar were friendly and happy to chat, sharing tips for our day’s golf to come. ||Breakfast , pre-ordered the evening before, was hot, tasty and a decent size .||Overall this is a really friendly, cosy place to stay with great food and service, brilliantly positioned a couple of miles from Gleneagles.||Highly...
