We came based on the nice reviews. Starting with the positives - lovely location, very nice interior and exterior, very clean. The staff were very nice. It's a dog friendly pub, and all the dogs were well behaved. They have a wide range of draught ales, lagers, and a good selection of spirits, with a decent cocktails offer at 2 for £12 (I didn't try any myself). Lovely open fire. I would return for drinks, but not food, which brings me to the negative.

We both ordered burgers, we had the spicy one, since we both enjoy spicy food. The chips were okay. The salad was a bit plain with no kind of dressing, the homemade coleslaw was very chunky, but tasted fine. The onion rings were the cheap, frozen kind you buy in supermarkets.

The burger was unfortunately inedible. We both picked the jalapeños out and ate those, the rest of it was a write-off. The beef patties had a very distinct taste and smell, they smelled off, and they tasted the same way they smelled. They were very hard and dry. I have a feeling they were frozen, possibly a fairly long time ago, or had not been stored properly for freezing and had freezer burned as a result. The taste and smell was strong enough that it made the bacon taste exactly the same, and the cheese was all melted around the bacon and patties too, so we couldn't eat that either. It was fairly horrible.

When we paid, I did complain. The lady who served us was very nice, and apologetic. We explained the burgers did not taste nice, and that neither of us were able to finish them because of the taste. She went to speak with the chef, and when she came back, she said he told her it's because the burgers are spicy with hot sauce. I did have to insist that the spiciness was not the issue at all, given that we both ate all the chillies, I think it's fair to say we had no problem with the spiciness. In fact, it wasn't really spicy at all, at least not to my tastes. Jalapeños are mild.

So she went back to speak to him again, and when she returned, she offered to knock one of the meals off the bill. I immediately agreed because I was feeling quite awkward by then. She then had some issues tallying the bill, and first tried to charge us the full amount. My partner had to correct her, but I'm sure this was a totally innocent mistake, as I've said, she had been nothing but nice to us since we arrived.

I do think they should have knocked off the price of two burgers. Not full meals, we ate most of the rest of the stuff on the plate, but just the price of the standalone burgers on the menu, since both...

We had booked to stay at the Inn as it sounded nice and we were attending a wedding nearby. The outside appearence was o .k . on arrival but it became clear on seeing our room that this was far fron good. The room had a very shabby and dirty carpet, unironed bedding , no wardrobe only a hanging rail with no hangers, no milk to make a drink after our very long journey a really grim ensuite with a dirty carpet, no toilet roll,no soap We asked to see another room but they were worse and as the wedding was in the morning and we had no hope of getting our £60deposit back we had to stay.Breakfast was in the bar downstairs with the plastic milk bottle on the table and cheap jam etc. we had scrambled eggs which were horrid served by the owner in a dirty jumper . we had booked to stay for two nighs as the wedding did'nt finish till midnight we came back later to no bed made, no cups washed and certainly no cleaning had been done.We left as soon as we could the next morning and found a wonderful bed and breakfast for the same price in the next village. The advice we would give is to stay away from yhe Squirrel Inn- a real...

I can't see why there are any negative reviews regarding service! We've been here a few times, as it's one of the closest pubs to us. All staff are really friendly and very helpful. We also find the regular customers very friendly, even the first time we dropped in. There is a great pub menu, all very well priced and separate Gluten Free and Vegetarian menus. They have a separate fryer for the GF food too, which isn't very common. We had two meals, a large G&T, plus a pint of coke for me (driving) - all for £25, which I thought was very good value. Very extensive Gin list at great prices. Soft drinks not the usual rediculous prices either. Often music at weekends - lots dressed in 70s disco gear this evening! Fabulous view in the garden. Dog friendly.

Tried to find a menu on their website but it just said they don't have a set menu but when we got there they handed us the menu which was quite extensive so I guess they're just too lazy to put it on their website. I would describe their menu as cafe-style not restaurant-syle as everything comes with chips. We had scampi and chips and gammon and chips. The presentation was basic with no finesse. The food was OK but not brilliant. We had coke and diet coke from those dreadful multi-nozzle things but the glasses weren't particularly clean. This place could be so much better with not too much effort and they could start by cleaning up the car park and the junkyard beyond.

We ate at the pub but did not stay so I cannot comment on the accommodation, but I must say the food was OUTSTANDING! Look at that beautiful plate of food! It tasted even better. I had a beautifully cooked belly of pork with the most scrumptious crackling, buttery potato mash and mixed veg. Everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The pub was open on a Sunday night and that on its own is a huge bonus as most pubs in Somerset are closed. It's a small pub but there's plenty of parking. It was clean and tidy. This was definitely a great find.
