Lovely setting for an outside lunch / drinks .Where we love to go with our dog. The big positive is that with the outside area allows for dog walkers to sit outside and enjoy lunch ..What I don't like is dogs standing on table ...sitting on seats with heads resting on tables looking at food..🤑... surely this has to be a hygiene concern !!! We witnessed this 3 times within our visit one larger dog where owners removed after tine but 2 smaller breeds allowed to stay on table with owners laughing ..im assuming they thought it was cute 🤑.small dog ..big dog .. doesn't matter what size ..I don't want those paws or back ends sitting on my dinner table. DOESN'T MATTER HOW CLEAN YOUR THINK YOUR DOG IS ..HIS /Her back end and paws gather nasty germs that I don't want on my table .."worms" from back end. .Other dogs" bodily fluids" from grass..As I said at beginning of post We were visiting with our dog but out of respect for other visitors we we never let our dog on a seat or table..Manager at stables could very easily combat this with a "polite note" on tables to remind customers with regards towards other customers . ..This had got to be a hygiene issue surely?? ....Thank you for your response Kerry. ..looking forward to your resolution to this now that you see it...
Read moreThe pub is beautiful & the atmosphere is lovely. Highly recommend for a drink & chat. Service was lovely & staff very friendly.
The food looks nice but sadly our experience wasn’t great. Went for a Sunday roast & wasn’t impressed. However, seeing the fish & chips……that looked decent.
Pros: Pork belly was spot on with taste and time cooked.
Gravy was thick enough and nice
Carrot was nice enough & cooked well
Cons:
Cold……only hot thing was the gravy
They Stack the meat on top of the roast potatoes to make it look bigger than is.
Yorkshire pudding was frozen and not homemade……not what I expected.
“Honey glazed parsnips” were tasteless, undercooked.
Potatoes are frozen, stodgy, zero crisp, zero taste and not cooked in “beef dripping” pretty sure I got the same ones from Lidl.
Cauliflower & cheese was again, undercooked, tasteless and lacked cheese (zero seasoning)
Portion of meat was not great until questioned and rectified (appreciated that, thank you)
Cabbage was browning, tasteless
Broccoli (all of two stems) undercooked and tasteless
For £45 for two people, not one first choice for a roast but would enjoy a walk to & pint here...
Read moreIgnored when we entered, then staff shouting across full restaurant to check if our table was ready was not a good start. Loads of empty tables so not even sure what that was about. Staff continued to have loud personal conversations with each other and the couple next to us, I didn't appreciate two staff members standing at my shoulder blethering loudly while I ate. Food was nothing special, the only element of all courses freshly cooked was the steak, everything else was clearly prepared earlier then reheated. Mushrooms came with warm stale bread, pate with half a cold untoasted baguette. Very strange decision there. Very small portion of chips, more paper in the dish than chips and sticky toffee should have come with a lot more custard and in a bowl or even with a choice of ice cream.. Glad we took the lunch deal and not the a la carte as if that was the standard of cooking it would have been a rip off. Bill came to just over £47, handed over a £50 dine out card and was asked to then pay the amount left on my card, I had to explain he had it the wrong way round. Nice place, good setting by canal but left disappointed and...
