Food was great as was service first few visits, My sister decided it was the perfect place for her daughters graduation then it all went downhill from there, she spoke to someone over the phone said to come in speak with a manager who was much less than accommodating more avoided her like the plague she had a meal with her husband whilst there and the manager said he would come over and speak with her but never did, she obv complained and said never mind will take my business elsewhere as they clearly weren’t that interested and another manager contacted her and offered free drinks for the guests to put things right, she got the menus and everyone’s order who would be attending and made arrangements to go up and pay the deposit and give them the orders, she arrives to her appointment to be told the manager she was dealing with is no longer there he was sacked a couple of days beforehand, no one contacted her so another wasted journey and more money out of pocket having ordered drinks while they waited she was assured the new manager starting on sun would be made aware and she would be contacted, thurs rolls around and she calls them because still no new manager has contacted her she’s been trying to have this booked and paid for all in all 7 weeks ! Today the new manager calls and is obv apologetic but it’s too little too late a mean 7 weeks of the run around and she’s trying to give you money not the other way round. It hasn’t filled her with Confidence to say the least naturally how is she supposed to trust you on the day, it’s been an absolute headache from start to Finnish and in my opinion not very professional, myself and my sister are now in talks with another venue it really shouldn’t be...

Met my sister here last night, we both decided to have the 2 course festive menu. Both ordered turkey, all I can say it was extremely disappointing. The vegetables were cold as was the Yorkshire pudding. Decent portion of turkey and the pigs in blankets were only warmish. Waitress coukdnt have been nicer and the manager offered free dessert. We took one between us the salted caramel profiteroles. They were also mediocre, you expect pouring chocolate over this dish but it was set chocolate over each profiterole and the chocolate tasted cheap. So because we took only one pudding the manager said he would also give us our coffees complimentary - fine. Then the bill came . . . ÂŁ64 quid !! We had also had a soda water and lime a non alcoholic beer and a coke. It was a.complete ripoff ÂŁ64 quid I nearly fell out my seat. Thus is the second time, and last time I'll be at the tickled Trout. The food standard has dropped dramatically but the prices for what you get are astronomical. Also the 2nd time I've been in here and it cold, it's not nice to feel cold whilst eating dinner. So wait staff are lovely but they really need to look at the cooks, won't call them chefs as I would hope a chef would know how to at least serve...

My mum and I had the misfortune to have booked a table here for Mothers Day. Our table was booked for 2pm and on arrival we were met with people standing about everywhere, nobody came to check us in and we had to find a member of staff to help us . We were shown to our table and order taken. We were still waiting for our first course ONE HOUR AND TEN MINUTES later. On asking about our order we were informed that there were a lot of large tables of guests but our food would be here shortly. We also decided to order our desserts when our main course arrived as we couldn't wait another hour for our dessert! We ordered hit drink and mini pudding and when it arrived it was only the hot drinks no dessert . The dessert arrived as we finished our hot drink and it was a disgrace. It was supposed to be bramley apple pie - it looked like it had been just tossed onto plate with little or no pastry! ! This meal was so disappointing as this was my Mums first meal out after having had heart surgery and to take 2 HOURS for a very poor meal to be served is terrible. I would never recommend anyone to eat here and I...

Thanks to Holly and Lynsey who waited on us at the Tickled Trout on Saturday 9th March. All staff could not have been any nicer, helpful or more courteous. Holly was really busy and took lots of time with us. Made my mother in law's day, and ours. The food was excellent. I always have had a lovely meal here but haven't been for a few years. It was a lovely surprise to see the restaurant still here and busy. We had possibly the best starter ever (chicken bites), fish was so fresh, tasty and substantial. The home cooked chips to die for. We managed desserts and the chocolate honey pot provided a lot of laughs, we weren't sure if it was all completely edible. It was! We were a bit cold from a day's shopping and the bar staff/manager put the fire on immediately, we stayed for hours. Had such a great afternoon, laughed continuously and felt extremely welcome. Thanks all at the Tickled Trout for a lovely day. We will be back soon, Tracey & family xx

Full ONE HOUR wait for the food at 30 percent tables occupied. 😠đŸ„ș Sea bass on the menu but it is not available, lamp shank on the menu but it is not available, ribeye steak on the menu but, you guessed it, It is not available. Coffee arrived before the meal and was cold by the time food was on the table. Food was lukewarm as well on arrival. Asked for a salad, was gived a very small amount of complexity wilted salad leaves and three tiny cherry-tomatoes, I had to share a lemon wedge from another person's plate at our table. No, it should not be me chasing the waiter and asking for a lemon, it should have been the kitchen's job to put it on the plate without asking. If there are 100 seatings/ tables, there should be enough kitchen staff to coop with 30 of peoples orders. 30 percent capacity is not "busy", it is mostly empty. Eternity of waiting in the cold room. Terrible experience.

A lovely setting on the edge of open country. Excellent enthusiastic service, with a good range of good, wines and other drinks. Shares a site with Dobbies garden centre. 22April2024. Further satisfactory visit on 23FEB2025: Lunchtime Monday 24FEB2025. The short-handed staff worked brilliantly to deliver great service and the customary excellent food and drink. The (male) manager was working up a real sweat as he (and the female waiting staff member plus occasionally one black-clad gentleman presumably from the kitchen) kept the food and drink flowing on a busy Monday lunchtime session. They really justified the tip which we left for them, but another physical person present in the restaurant would bae been truly beneficial to the pub chain's brand image. We shall return - it's my birthday later in March.
