Oh, if I only read Google reviews before visiting.
Because the experience I had with the ‘Lamb Sharing Platter’ hasn’t seemingly changed at all since ‘Hayley Williams’ and ‘P.V’ visited despite the added comments from the manager to talk to the kitchen staff. I completely echo ‘P.V’s viewpoint on it.
First off, the platter is far too small for the cost. If your own staff/waitress commented to ‘P.V’ that it’s small then just make it bigger before bringing it to guests and getting these repeat reviews. I mean, seriously? The 4 koftas are the length and thickness of an average adult middle finger, the 5 meatballs were IKEA quality and size, and the ‘pulled lamb’ wasn’t that big of a portion. The £34 dish isn’t enough to feed the 2 people it’s meant to serve. I’m not sure how many people need to review this for it to change.
The welsh cake dessert we had was the highlight of the visit.
I had my 9 year old son with me so sampled the kids menu. Average quality but the £4.95 ice cream was just 1 ‘golf ball’ sized scoop of vanilla ice cream on a tiny saucer with no option of a sauce.
Then, when paying, noticed we’re overcharged £2 extra for the dessert. This was set by the tills so suspect that it’s been happening since opening, but was the first to notice.
Would I...

We saw a good score and praise for The Welsh house. The restaurant said: The great thing about dining here is that youʼll get locally produced, fresh, flavoursome dishes experienced in a comfortable relaxed environment. As tourists, we were hoping for a real Welsh experience.
Our experience was sadly different. There was nothing Welsh or relaxed about the loud American rock music. We ordered the Lamb sharing platter for two. When ordering, the waitress already indicated that it was smart to order extra lamb because the platter would be on the small side. You don't expect that. Strange that the restaurant does not serve a normal portion for two persons.
The dish contained three types of lamb, but they were not recognisable as such. It could have been any kind of meat, because you didn't taste any lamb. Fresh and Welsh it wasn't either, as the meatballs and köfte came from the freezer and from the fryer. The pulled Lamb was so full of a sauce that you didn't taste any meat at all. Putting hot meat on lettuce is not recommended either.
It could have been so delicious if fresh, flavourful and local ingredients had indeed been used. Plenty of sheep in Wales. We enjoyed the fries, but the rest was a...
Read moreDisappointed in our visit to this restaurant. Food was average - think chain pub grub but at a crazy high price point for the quality. Calamari came with a strange chilli jam which really didn’t go with the dish. No lemon or aioli as you would expect. The worst part of the experience however was the service; inexperienced staff were very overbearing. Had to ask for basic things multiple times like cutlery etc. Food came out at random; one of our party ordered two starters as a main, which appeared before the actual starters. When staff were informed of the error the plates were just left on the table. A side to go with our steaks arrived at random in between courses and about ten minutes before the main dishes and thus was cold and congealed by the time they were actually needed. Steak was fine but just fine; as I say, chain quality. Overall, this was not a restaurant I would revisit soon - or ever, to be honest. Much better establishments are available within a 10 minute drive. Don’t bother...
