I visited Malham Cove on Saturday with friends for a bit of a fitness walk. Upon leaving the car park we came across the Farmhouse ice cream van and with it being great weather and a long walk ahead we thought we would treatourselves to some ice cream. The girl serving was very polite and pleasant and we ordered 2 mint choc chip and 2 vanilla all with flakes. Was glad to see it was scooped and not the whippy made from piwder and cream that most use as it is terrible. A good serving too and you would think so too at over ÂŁ3 each. 1st taste and was excited like a kid in a sweetshop. Rich vanilla with a good firm cold texture. I was raving about it for some time and even shared my delight on social media where I have a decent following. Today(sunday) as the guys went to walk Ingleton falls, I decided to return to Malham with my wife and 2 of my adult children who know of my excitement of having the ice cream again. We parked and as passing the van I asked when the van would be leaving as we had packed a picnic and would treat ourselves after eating.. the polite young man said about 5. It was now 2.30pnm so we decided we would return. We did our thing and returned rather than carry on from the cliff top to the water fall which is some walk back to the van..passing the local ice cream bar to get to the van. It was 5.15pm. Was glad to see him still there. Ordered 2 mint choc chip and 2 vanilla all with flakes. The girls had gone to the loo and boy to the car to put the bags in the boot as we returned for the ice cream to then walk back to visit the waterfall. So just me at the van I got served the 1st icecream mint.. was a melt mush and I mentioned it was already melted and jus a slop. my hand was already covered in it dripping and having 4 ordered he thought best to charge me 1st. Then he said he would take the scoops from bottom of tubs. All four were melted mush and I mentioned this with both hands full and messy with drips of melted ice cream. He said it had been busy and the freezer lids had constantly been on and off the top. Ud expect ice cream to be sold in hot weather and have busy periods so fix the issue. I suggested he start the engine to power the freezers and asked if he actually had since 2pm when I stopped on way in. He just looked at me. I walked 100yds having already paid and not wanting to make a scene.. gave them to family who laughed at me due to all my raving and they all went in the bin.
Terrible ice cream was my social media for Sunday. A real let down. We then went to the village shop and paid a further ÂŁ15.. so that now becomes ÂŁ30 for 4 ice creams. Nxt time I may dip my finger in the tubs...
Read moreMe and my family came to Burnsall on Wednesday 2nd June 2020 for a nice day out âïž we had a little trouble setting up our own dingy as our pump wasnât working :( we went over to the Yorkshire dale ice cream van where we saw a gentleman blowing up other dingys - we met an employee called Jordan helped us massively!! Both blowing up our dingy and helping us find our missing piece to help it stay afloat!! All with a huge smile on his face đ at the end of the day we treated ourselves to an ice cream which was gorgeous, whilst comparing our tan lines to the staffâs inside the van! Would highly recommend this company as they deliver amazing customer service and top notch treats!!...
Read moreI got ice cream today in Ilkley after a lovely walk. Unfortunately, ice cream part wasnât as lovely. First of all, service is terrible â staff doesnât even wear gloves, they messed up our order. My boyfriend received brownie ice cream instead of chocolate and I received a weird tasting strawberry with pieces of âstrawberryâ that looked and tasted as if they were made of plastic. After not too long time my stomach started hurting, so I evidently got a food poisoning from this place. Not sure whether itâs the poor staff and food hygiene to blame or the ingredientsâŠBut Iâll definitely...
